Decided after being told it was worthwhile, to head to Norwich. Walked around town, through shops, malls, lanes, parks and found what we thought was the cathedral. It was a cathedral, not THE cathedral. Nonetheless was a good experience even if very cold.... read more

Well we arrived safe and sound. The Emirates plane ride was fairly bumpy, but sleep was enjoyed as was the myriad amounts of food. The jury is out as to whether Emirates is better than the "Flying Kangaroo". Seats were ok for views but comfort is on par with QANTAS. The trip to Dubai was overnight so not much to see, took off over Glenelg and crossed Eyre Penin between Pt Lincoln and Cowell tracking over Bight then headed up and over Kalgoorlie and then asleep till we were crossing the Maldives in the dark. Dubai is a thriving airport and the number of planes there was uncountable. At least 6 A380s for Emirates - more likely more than 10. Airport is neat, tidy and plenty of action at 6am. Left at about 8.30 for Gatwick ... read more

Geo: 52.6281, 1.29935Unfortunately today has gone somewhat pear shaped due to this bloody weather. Lunch cancelled as Dave & Audrey are pretty much snowed in in their village and roads are far too icy to risk driving.Katherine was going to come to Norfolk but again i f she were to get stuck here then she can't get back too the kids.Oh we'll, Chris and I plan to go into Norwich anyway and do some shopping and find a pub lunch in front of a nice open fire. More to come as the day progresses. No open fires but did plenty of shopping, slipping and sliding in the snow. Had a couple of beers before dinner at the white horse with ken, Theresa, Jane & Tony. Had a good laugh with plenty of food and wine. The big freeze ... read more

Geo: 52.6281, 1.29935LondonArrived safely and so far no snow, though the salt gritters are out in force. Emirates chauffeur picked us up hassle free and now on our way to Liverpool street station. Oh! Did I mention that its bloody cold. 8.25am and just gone through hammersmith. Billboard says -3c and the snow has started to fall. Traffic is ...well traffic.10am. Met up with Vicky at Liverpool st Starbucks and now on train to Norwich. The snow is chucking it down now and it's freezing. It feels strange going through east London and seeing how much has changed in the years gone by. Bethnall green, forest gate, Illford etc.The countryside is so beautiful, completely covered in snow. Do birds get cold feet?Slight change of dinner plans due to this weather. Was decided that the little winding ... read more

Not so many people have been to Norwich, but millions know that Norwich is in Anglia. They wouldn't have looked in an atlas or zoomed into the satellite photos on google earth to know it. Nor would they have had to have paid attention in schoolroom geography lessons. Gazillions know Norwich is in "Anglia" ....because the telly told them every Saturday. Just as we've got the jist about where New York sits because of The Apprentice and cop shows, so the same is true with the English jewel in the incredibly near east. Anglia is a local British television station. Their most renowned telly show of all time (the seventies) was intimately bound with Norwich and was introduced, "Live. From Norwich It's the Quiz of the Week." However, instead of featuring a brash whacky haired Donald Trump ... read more

I've had another brilliant weekend camping. This time we've been in Cromer for 2 nights at a campsite about 20 minutes from the beach. We arrived quite near my bedtime on Friday so I helped daddy put up the tent whilst mummy made dinner then it was time for sleep. Yesterday we walked to the beach in Cromer so that I could build sandcastles and jump the sea waves, though the water was VERY cold! After playing for a while and a stroll around town we headed back to the campsite for lunch and a quick game of football. After that we drove to a local maze and play area. It was such a cool place - there was a maze made of maize (to be honest I wasn't that interested in it but mummy and ... read more

Yesterday mummy and daddy told me that we were going camping again, this time at Hemsby and with nanny and grandad. I had such a fun weekend. Yesterday we played on the beach at Hembsy, where grandad built me two sandcastles to knock down before he broke the spade, and I nearly made nanny jump waves in the sea - but at the last second I decided it looked far too cold! Mummy, daddy, nanny and grandad played crazy golf too but I was made to stay in my buggy :-( I didn't mind really it was good to see them playing, and to laugh at mummy - she was rubbish! Back at the campsite we played football and I chased lots of bubbles that I made everyone blow. After a quick pub meal we went ... read more

Three weeks to go... and sh****ng myself! After three years of plans falling through due to lack of money, unreliable travel companions and probably a subconcious desire to sabotauge because I just knew I wasn't ready, I am FINALLY going to quit the 9 to 5 and get back to basics! So I'm off to Addis Ababa in just over 3 weeks, to work in the city with a travel company and volunteer in an orphanage in my spare time! I intend to stay for 6 months. Talk about jumping in at the deep end! :)... read more
