This is a trial run. Two days to go before the off and we are piling up clothes that we are intending to take with us on our adventure of a lifetime! We have done a lot of travelling but packing has always been an issue. I take up most of the space in the suitcases with clothes and poor Don is left with a miniscule corner. But a girl needs that extra pair of shoes or that big bag of make up oh and on the cruise part of the trip I will need a nice frock! The big debate will come tomorrow night when that big pile is placed into the suitcase. Will it all make Australia - watch this space!... read more

Ok so I haven’t updated my blog in a very long time! This is because of 2 reasons: I have been ridiculously busy working and I have been ridiculously busy partying. I cannot believe we have been here over 3 months, the time has absolutely flown. We have made some fantastic friends while we have been here and I will be sad to say goodbye. However I will be very happy to get out of the crappy weather that they call 'summer' (queue rain and hail storm), and have a shower that resembles the colour of my eyes (Green for those of you playing at home). Some of the highlights of our time in London include: Seeing Barrack Obama at Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace. Travelling over to Turley for Anzac day and listening to the ... read more

Finally I have 5 minutes to sit down and write in my blog! We have been here for 13 days now and to say we are enjoying it would be a lie. The pub itself is lovely, very cosy and in the very rich suburb of Chorleywood – about 40 minutes out of central London. The people however are amongst the rudest I have ever met! They have plenty of money so of course they think it is their duty to treat you like utter sh*t. The children are spoilt brats and the parents will order a $50 rib eye steak for them to pick at!!!! No matter how good the food or service is, they always find something to whinge about, it makes me realise how easy going Aussies are! The accommodation isn’t too bad. ... read more

Well, this is the first entry from our round the world tour and this one comes from sunny England (Harefield) Unbeknown to Dianna and I a surprise party had VERY sneakily been arranged for the Saturday night (6 June) by Dianna's sister Claire and others and everyone involved did a spot on job of keeping it quiet as we did not have a clue about it until we got there. There was SO many times that people could have let the cat out of the bag but not one person let on and it was definitely a massive surprise! I can honestly say that I (Matt) have never been speechless before until we walked through the door and saw the room full of people we know and love - all there just for us. It was ... read more

I arrived safe and sound at Gatwick on Feb 1st after a brief stop in Belfast, I went straight to my aunt and uncle's house to catch up on some sleep (jet lag's a bitch) and lazed around. More family came round on the 3rd for lunch (and then dinner to our surprise), so I got to see my grandparents, grandma and Brian, and 2 of my cousins. I ended up at my grandma Julie's house for one night before being picked up my my grandparents on our first adventure to Somerset!... read more

Another fantastic day of sunshine with temperatures reaching the mid teens. After a heavy evening, ollie spent his first night on the floor and discovered lots of holes in his socks. Only 3 more days to go!... read more

So last time you heard from me I was off to quit my job in media… this went far better than expected, I was still shaking like a sh*tting dog when it came to the face to face “I’m going travelling for at least 8 months and I don’t know when I’m coming back, and I want to leave and er… I’m sorry, I know it’s a long time and I can’t take it off, it’s a terrible time career wise, leaves you in the lurch…” generally descending into completely incoherent mumbling apologies -it was pathetic. Despite this apparent lack of spine, the head of my department set about obtaining me a sabbatical. I’d be guaranteed a job when I come back which would have been fantastic, problem was -I’m not entirely certain when I’ll be ... read more
