Around March-April something got into me as I was among the first ones to reply to participate in the events organized by our Social Club at the company. This is how I ended up going to a roller skating disco in April with a confident approach: it can't be that hard to stand and just let myself roll ahead, right? It was a disaster for me. The last time I had wheels on my feet was when I was around 12 and I thought you can't forget that. Well, my brain remembered but my body did not. It was quite an argument inside my head when I had to face with the fact that I just can't stand up from my seat with the roller skates on my feet. When I had something to hold onto ... read more

Geo: 50.8998, -1.39561We awake at 6am and Adventure of the Seas is already docked in Southampton. It's a beautiful, crisp sunny morning. P&O's Oriana is silently making her way up the channel to her berth behind us. I can see bleary eyes passengers from that ship looking over at ours. No doubt mulling about their journeys home.We shower, dress and head down to the Vivaldi Dining Room for breakfast. As it's the last morning it's served buffet style rather than waiter service. After that we head up to deck 12 for a walk around in the early morning sunshine. Feels strange to know we have travelled from the new world back to the old without getting on a plane. As it's still too early for us to disembark we head to the Windjammer for some coffee and ... read more

We chose to stay closer to Basingstoke this day, and visit Winchester. What a beautiful little place! We strolled around the streets and saw all the sights. We went to lunch at the Royal Oak pub, which was very good. They had a lunch special that we all got, which was a sandwich, chips, and a drink. I had duck on a baguette and a beer. After lunch we walked around for another few hours and then drove back to Basingstoke. Our friend's husband had to work this day and we went back to meet him and the kids. He works for the Lord of Portsmouth, so we met him at the property for a little tour.... read more

After our daytrip out to Winchester, we drove back to Basingstoke and met up with our friend's husband at his work. He works for the Lord and Lady of Portsmouth and he gave us a tour of the grounds. It was amazing, and was my wife's favorite part of the entire trip! She loves gardens and they are very lovely here. We walked the grounds of the garden and house for over an hour, while Nikki went to get her kids from school. Later, we all met up at Nikki's house and sat around chatting until dinner, which was basic. We called in for Papa Johns pizza. They had a 2 for 1 deal, so we all got one and ate up, while talking well into the night. This was our last night with our friends ... read more

August 6,2013 London and Portsmouth United Kingdom Arrived Heathrow Airport in London England around 9:45 am .....UK time. Sally met me and we got something to eat while still at the airport. At 10:07...we were on our way to Portsmouth. Sally drove us around the M25 towards Hampshire....Portsmouth where my aunt Philippa and uncle Jeremy live. The journey took us just under two hours and we were both relieved when the both of us got out of the car. I looked at my watch and it read.....11:35 am. A long trip for Sally to drive all that way and I am grateful! The two of us walked through the gate and were greeted by my aunt Philippa and two dogs. Wednesday July 24th 2013. Southampton, England. We arrived at our friend's Liz and Ian's home in Gosport late morning having set off from Bristol around 9.30 am. We were fed a fantastic lunch of Gammon with parsley sauce and then Ian drove us to the Mayflower Cruise Terminal in Southampton. We arrived around 3pm and checked in and boarded with no queues whatsoever - brilliant! We had only been on board for an hour when we had to show up for the mandatory safety drill. We set sail at 17.10. The Oriana was moved off the birth with the aid of a tug. Once clear of the dock we set sail under pilot instruction for Dublin Bay. We went up on deck and to watch the sail out of the channel, passing the Fawley Oil Terminal ... read more

Geo: 50.8998, -1.39561Finally our cruise reached its conclusion. Before disembarking back in Southampton, we had a full day cruising at sea. It was a pretty easy going day. A sleep in, followed by brunch at the Windjammer buffet. The food festival held in the Promenade was little to get excited about. More left overs and dog food than delicacies. We engaged in furious scrabble combat thereafter for the final time. Nat came close, but was still unable to beat me, and as usual was not happy about it. From scrabble, I had to rush to make it for the final football tournament. Brady turned up for a game, but to our dissappointment few others did. Usually theres enough for three teams of 5. Today, just one three on three match. It was tough conditions, a flat ... read more
