Geo: 40.84, 14.2529An early start today. I am awake before 6.30am and I feel the ship shudder which normally means she is manourvering into port. I glance out and immediately spot the island of Capri in the distance as Reflection backs into the Port of Naples. We are docked alongside Aida Perla who we followed through the straits of Messina last night. She's a nice looking ship but is exclusively geared toward the German cruise market. At 6.30 there is a soft rap at the door. Room service. We ordered breakfast as we didn't want the rush of getting showered and going up to the OCV for breakfast this morning. This way we can eat at leisure then get ready to go ashore. We head towards the theatre just before 8am to pick up our tour group. ... read more

Geo: 37.9792, 23.7166We awake to grey skies and rain in Piraeus. Not what we had expected. The captains announcement the evening before had said clear skies and 75 degrees. Anyway we showered and headed to the Oceanview cafe for breakfast. Reflection is docked at the far end of the passenger port. Piraeus seems to be dived into two ports. One for passenger vessels such as ferrys, jetcats, hydrofoils and cruise liners and then the cargo/tanker port in the distance. Whilst eating breakfast we spot a large plume of black smoke rise up in the distance in the vicinity of the cargo port. We see little fire boats race out and start dousing it with water. It is too far to make out exactly what 'it' is but the smoke soon subsides.Reflection is docked much further out ... read more

Geo: 36.4168, 25.4335We awake and Reflection is already anchored in the Caldera at Santorini. We have been here many times before but the sight of the high sided cliffs with the white buildings of Fira and Oia in the distance still look spectacular. The brand new Majestic Princess is moored alongside us as well as Costa Classica who we last saw in Mykonos a few days ago.We decide to breakfast in the main dining room. One of the few grumbles I have about this ship is that the tables for two are so close together as to be almost touching. Fine if the couple on either side are friendly but even then I am not at my best first thing in the morning. It takes a few coffees to turn me from Hyde to Jekyll. We ... read more

Geo: 36.4044, 25.3959Today we are in Rhodes. Rhodes Town to be specific. This is my second time here having visited in 2015 on Celebrity Constellation. I recall that time being extremely hot and the pair of us getting a little lost and ending up walking almost an entire circuit of the old town through the dry moat that surrounds it. We also recall an encounter with a group of Nigerian Women selling wristbands who were a little zealous in the selling of said wristbands. From memory they would offer to shake your hand and then with some sleight of hand tie a band onto your wrist and then demand payment. We were prepared. We sally forth from Reflection heading towards St Mary's Gate which is the first point of entry into the old walled city. We recall ... read more

Geo: 37.4453, 25.328We awake to the terrible news of events in Manchester last night. Always shocking but even more so when so close to home. So it lends a sad tinge to the day that we can be enjoying our holiday when others are coming to terms with the loss of a loved one or friend. We dock in a small but very pretty port a short distance from Mykonos Town. We are a little surprised as we thought we would tender today. There are three other cruise ships who are anchored offshore. MSC Poesia, Costa Classica and Pullmantur Horizon. So I guess Mykonos Town is going to be very busy. The hills surrounding us are dotted with the famous sugar cube houses that look so cute in their white and blue colour scheme. We are here from ... read more

Geo: 35.7191, 19.5934We sleep in later today. We had planned on eating breakfast in the Opus dining room but we have left it too late for that and so Oceanview it is. It's quite busy. Being a sea day there is no place else to go. We sit outside and although it's sunny the cool wind is still being a nuisance. Still after a shower, coffee and a fresh breeze we are definitely awake now.Back at the cabin we grab kindles and iPads intending to find a quiet spot to settle. The solarium unsurprisingly is very busy. We grab two loungers on the pool deck but it's too chilly and exposed unless you lie in the sun. We head down to deck 5 where the steamers chairs offer a sheltered hideaway where we stay until it's ... read more

Geo: 35.91, 14.52I awake before the alarms sound this morning. It's a little before 7am and it's already light out. I peer through the curtains and can see we are already entering the Grand Harbour of Valletta. I dress and step out onto the balcony to watch as Reflection spins 180 degrees so that she can moor just in front of another cruise ship. Mein Schiff 2, a German cruise liner (formerly celebrity galaxy or one of that class). We are followed in by Oceana's Riviera which moors on the opposite side of the harbour in Vittorriosa. We quickly shower and head up to oceanview for breakfast. Our tour today is at 9am but we need to meet outside the port gates 15mins prior to this. Ever punctual we are waiting 30mins before. We needn't have rushed. ... read more

Geo: 38.1922, 15.5566As we awake Reflection is situated about 5 miles off the sea east coast of the volcanic island of Stromboli. After Etna and Vesuvius she is the third of Italy's three active volcanoes. Today she is shrouded in cloud and so we cannot see much of her. Reflection continues southward towards the straits of Messina. As we approach we see two small boats with some men shouting very loudly. Someone is swimming the straits from Sicily to mainland Italy. It's only three miles so hardly compares with the English Channel but am sure it's a challenge nonetheless. We dock in the busy port shortly after 10am and not longer after guests are pouring out from Reflection to meet their tours guides. We know that many of the most popular tours to Taormina have been ... read more

Geo: 42.0912, 11.7968The night is sultry and warm. The aircon in our room is not very effective and we have a restless nights sleep as a result. Dawn soon creeps through the curtains and we rise and breakfast in the hotel. It's simple continental fare but tasty and filling. As we still have a few hours to spare before our shuttle to the port at 10.30am we decide to take a walk along the seafront. It's busy with joggers, walkers and commuters. It's a beautiful bright morning and the breeze off the Med is refreshing. We find a small cafe where we buy cappuccinos and watch the sail and fishing boats out on the sea. Back at the hotel our shuttle is prompt and we leave earlier at 10.20 to arrive at the port at 10.35. ... read more
