I just had this amazing blog all typed up, and it was so detailed and clever, I think it was my best one yet... But I accidentally clicked on a link, lost the page, and for some stupid reason, the auto save feature on this thing doesn't work, so I'm really irritated... It has not been a good day for me... Anyway, I don't want to rant about my day, but mostly it's because my flat-mates (besides Maggi) are slobs and I've kind of hit the breaking point with putting up with them, but I have no outlet for my anger because I don't want to yell at them, and I don't think it would help even if I did. I'll put up the pictures and you'll understand what I mean. Well, I as I said, ... read more

Hello All! It's been about two weeks since I last wrote. You haven't missed out on much. Last time I wrote I had just gotten back from Edinburgh, and that was the last big thing I did until this past weekend when I went on a tour to Stonehenge, Salisbury Cathedral, and Bath. But first things first... The weekend of Oct 25th: On Friday I went to the British Museum for the first time. It was amazing, there was so much stuff to see. I didn't know where to start so I wandered around the first floor starting with ancient sculpture. There was a large section with Egyptian sculpture, there were some tombs, some carvings, some giant heads, and most importantly the Rosetta Stone! I was really excited to see it, although, for some reason I ... read more

Hello Again, I've done a few things since I last wrote so, I thought I should catch up now, before the weekend starts, so that the next one I write won't be obscenely long. So, the day after I last wrote, Maggi and I went to the Covent Garden Markets, which was a lot of fun. There were some interesting street performers, which I really enjoyed. I took a few pictures of the market and the street performers. My favorite, I think, was this guy who was dressed in a green suit that looked like it was covered in leaves, and a green hat, who spoke in this weird, high pitched birdlike squeak. When we walked around him, he had taken someone's camera, who had been filming him, and was talking into it and making weird ... read more

Hello All! I am waiting for my laundry so I thought that I would sit down and write more about what I have been up to! Last Thursday I just posted some pictures, but that was also my enrollment day. So, I finally got my schedule and have sort of figured out what I will be doing this semester... Monday: I will have nothing, luckily - unless one of my classes has a meeting, but that sounds unlikely. Tuesday: I am going to have two Visual and Cultural Theory classes on this day - I have no idea what the classes are or what the time frame is - but I did get to apply for certain ones, so hopefully I will get good ones (and will find out soon). Wednesday: I am having a cross-college ... read more

Hello All! I don't really have much more to report, because I haven't done much... But I did do some wandering with Maggi, my flatmate, so here are some pictures from that. Walking Trips We saw the graffiti on our walk back from a student activity fair. And the creepy bathrooms were on a tour that we took with our orientation group around London - they were very creepy! It was kind of like a field of huge eggs! Everything else was from a brief walk around tonight at Trafalgar Square and Leicester Square. We also stumbled on to Piccadilly Circus and had some ice cream. It was beautiful outside, and there were so many people out! We thought of going to see a show, but it was getting late, and we weren't dressed for the ... read more

Well, hello everyone! If I haven't talked to you since I left, I want you to know that I am safe in London and already having a really good time! If I have talked to you, then here is some more detailed info on what I've been up to! So, I left Monday the 22nd at 7:40-ish. I had a lovely flight to Iceland, and ended up sitting next to two nice ladies from Holland! It was a mom and daughter - they had been visiting a son who lived in Minnesota. Neither of them spoke English very well, but we had a pleasant time together. I meant to say that it was my first trip abroad - but they thought it was my first airplane ride, so they kept giving me advice and asking me ... read more

I arrived in London on March 19th, still without much of a plan or a definite place to stay. The flight from Dublin wasn't too bad, Gatwick International on the other hand...a disaster! ahaha. The place is HUGE and the signs are not the most helpful. I had such a hard time trying to find the bus to Central London that I ended up just taking the Express train (twice the price...but, twice as fast). While on the train I tried to solidify a place to lay my head for the night. Before I left Dublin I had sent out a request through www.couchsufing.com to be hosted by Carolina. She had since been in touch and told me that she might have room for me if I couldn't find anything else. -------This is probably a good ... read more

Hi everyone, Im back from my 12 day trip to Central and Eastern Europe. It was truly an amazing experience as I was able to see four amazing cities. The trip with my friend Eliot started in Berlin. Berlin was a very interesting city. It really is a city still looking for some sort of identity. There were the makings of a great city, but it just felt empty. In addition, I have never been in such a quiet city. You could honestly be walking down a street and not hear a single noise. The same could be said while riding on the underground or the above ground s-bahn. No one talked to one another, there was just silence. Regardless, it was still a great city and I was able to take in several great ... read more

Hi everyone, Lots has happened since my last post. Tracy came and visited for a week while she was on Spring Break from Bowdoin. We had a very fun time. We got in lots of the touristy stuff including some things that I had yet to do on this trip like the London Eye and the Tower of London. We also made it to the Houses of Parliament, British Museum, National Gallery, a Jack the Ripper Tour, took in Avenue Q (We both highly reccomend it) amongst other things. The week flew by and I can't wait to be back home and see her again. I'm also back from another European adventure. This time I made my way North into Scotland. I went to Edinburgh where a high school friend is studying and crashed on ... read more
