I just had this amazing blog all typed up, and it was so detailed and clever, I think it was my best one yet... But I accidentally clicked on a link, lost the page, and for some stupid reason, the auto save feature on this thing doesn't work, so I'm really irritated... It has not been a good day for me... Anyway, I don't want to rant about my day, but mostly it's because my flat-mates (besides Maggi) are slobs and I've kind of hit the breaking point with putting up with them, but I have no outlet for my anger because I don't want to yell at them, and I don't think it would help even if I did. I'll put up the pictures and you'll understand what I mean. Well, I as I said, ... read more

Hello! Okay, I'm not actually in Greece now, but I did write some of this while in Greece, so hopefully that counts for something... When I finish this I will write another about the wonders of Paris and update you about what I am doing for the rest of my time here! Well, Greece was interesting. I had a really good time and got to see some amazing things, but there were some issues that were completely out of my control that made parts of it frustrating. I will briefly summarize those yucky bits and then move on to the good stuff. (Oh, just to clarify, Megan and her friend Kristi went out on Thursday and Maggi and I were to meet them on Friday.) First, the hotel that we booked on the Island was apparently ... read more

So, it's taken a little while, but I just finished packing up my stuff for Greece, so I decided I better write about Ireland before I leave again. We left Thursday night from Gatwick Airport which was a lot smaller than Heathrow and we had a lovely dinner at an American-Italian place. I had really good spaghetti, although it made me a feel a little sick later. When we got into Dublin it was pretty late, and we had to find the bus to our hotel which took a bit. But we finally found it and got dropped off across the motorway from our hotel, so we had to run across it and we were there! It was a pretty decent place, no frills, cheap, a TV (I was so excited, I haven't watched any TV ... read more

Well, I guess I shouldn't start with Amsterdam, since I did go to Cambridge right before I left: Cambridge: On Friday Maggi and I went to Cambridge to walk around. She had been there for a summer program in High School so she was a bit nostalgic for it, I think. Although one of the main reasons she wanted to go was to visit a bakery she went to, and it had closed, so she was a little bummed. But, we had a really nice time walking around and looking at the colleges. We walked through the back of one of the colleges "illegally" because we wanted to get back the road and didn't know the quickest way back. It was pretty funny. But we saw other tourists doing it too, so it apparently isn't a ... read more

Hello All! It's been about two weeks since I last wrote. You haven't missed out on much. Last time I wrote I had just gotten back from Edinburgh, and that was the last big thing I did until this past weekend when I went on a tour to Stonehenge, Salisbury Cathedral, and Bath. But first things first... The weekend of Oct 25th: On Friday I went to the British Museum for the first time. It was amazing, there was so much stuff to see. I didn't know where to start so I wandered around the first floor starting with ancient sculpture. There was a large section with Egyptian sculpture, there were some tombs, some carvings, some giant heads, and most importantly the Rosetta Stone! I was really excited to see it, although, for some reason I ... read more

Hello! I'm not actually writing from Scotland, because I did not want to carry my computer around, but since I just got back this morning, I figured it was okay to put it as my location. So, I had an amazing weekend - I got out of England for the first time! yay! But, I'll start with Saturday at Oxford. On Saturday morning I got up super early (okay, only 6:30, but still early) and left for Oxford around 8:30. (We got a little lost going to meet the group, and got on a tube going the wrong direction - but we still left on time, so that was good) I met Maggi's program leader and some of the girls in her group. It was wonderful to be able to come along with them, and I ... read more

Hello Again, I've done a few things since I last wrote so, I thought I should catch up now, before the weekend starts, so that the next one I write won't be obscenely long. So, the day after I last wrote, Maggi and I went to the Covent Garden Markets, which was a lot of fun. There were some interesting street performers, which I really enjoyed. I took a few pictures of the market and the street performers. My favorite, I think, was this guy who was dressed in a green suit that looked like it was covered in leaves, and a green hat, who spoke in this weird, high pitched birdlike squeak. When we walked around him, he had taken someone's camera, who had been filming him, and was talking into it and making weird ... read more

Hello Again! It's been four days since I last wrote; that's not too bad, right? So Thursday was my first day of class, and it was incredible. We met up at the school at 9:45 and left a 10:10 for a mystery coach trip to an unknown location. I chatted with a girl from Israel for a bit, and it was interesting to talk to her. She was really cold - which I understood - although it was a beautiful 60-ish degree day. I was trying to follow the road signs on the drive, but having very little geographical knowledge of England, I was completely lost. We kept following the signs for France though, and I was concerned that I didn't have my passport, but thankfully I didn't need it (it would have spoiled the surprise ... read more

Hello All! I am waiting for my laundry so I thought that I would sit down and write more about what I have been up to! Last Thursday I just posted some pictures, but that was also my enrollment day. So, I finally got my schedule and have sort of figured out what I will be doing this semester... Monday: I will have nothing, luckily - unless one of my classes has a meeting, but that sounds unlikely. Tuesday: I am going to have two Visual and Cultural Theory classes on this day - I have no idea what the classes are or what the time frame is - but I did get to apply for certain ones, so hopefully I will get good ones (and will find out soon). Wednesday: I am having a cross-college ... read more

Hello All! I don't really have much more to report, because I haven't done much... But I did do some wandering with Maggi, my flatmate, so here are some pictures from that. Walking Trips We saw the graffiti on our walk back from a student activity fair. And the creepy bathrooms were on a tour that we took with our orientation group around London - they were very creepy! It was kind of like a field of huge eggs! Everything else was from a brief walk around tonight at Trafalgar Square and Leicester Square. We also stumbled on to Piccadilly Circus and had some ice cream. It was beautiful outside, and there were so many people out! We thought of going to see a show, but it was getting late, and we weren't dressed for the ... read more
