Hi everyone, Im back from my 12 day trip to Central and Eastern Europe. It was truly an amazing experience as I was able to see four amazing cities. The trip with my friend Eliot started in Berlin. Berlin was a very interesting city. It really is a city still looking for some sort of identity. There were the makings of a great city, but it just felt empty. In addition, I have never been in such a quiet city. You could honestly be walking down a street and not hear a single noise. The same could be said while riding on the underground or the above ground s-bahn. No one talked to one another, there was just silence. Regardless, it was still a great city and I was able to take in several great ... read more

Hi everyone, Lots has happened since my last post. Tracy came and visited for a week while she was on Spring Break from Bowdoin. We had a very fun time. We got in lots of the touristy stuff including some things that I had yet to do on this trip like the London Eye and the Tower of London. We also made it to the Houses of Parliament, British Museum, National Gallery, a Jack the Ripper Tour, took in Avenue Q (We both highly reccomend it) amongst other things. The week flew by and I can't wait to be back home and see her again. I'm also back from another European adventure. This time I made my way North into Scotland. I went to Edinburgh where a high school friend is studying and crashed on ... read more

Hi everyone, So sorry that it has been a month since I posted, I don't know where the time has gone. I have been busy with lots of different things. Since I last posted mom and dad came and visited. It was really nice so see them and we had some fantastic times including a day trip to oxford to see that wonderful city. After they left, I was in crunch mode to get out four essays due on the same day, but I got them out. The day after they were due, I went on a day trip to Bath, which is just a lovely city. Shortly after that, I had my birthday, which was a lot of fun as I went out to a couple of pubs with friends and had an enjoyable night. ... read more

Hi everyone, Sorry to take so long to post, but there have been internet issues here. I did not have any classes yesterday because of severe flooding of a sub-station that knocked out power to a good portion of the West End of London. But I have internet back now. I had a very busy weekend. On Saturday, I ventured up to Notting Hill to check out the Portobello Rd. Market which was a very interesting little market with all sorts of stuff to look at. I then made my way back to the South Bank and went to Borough Market near London Bridge which had just about every kind of food imaginable. If I had known how much food there was there, I would have just eaten lunch there. On Sunday, I made my way ... read more

hi everyone, Well I am back safe and sound from a fantastic trip to Paris. The train ride there and back was very nice and the three hours went by very quickly. Saturday was busy with trips to lots of sights. We started out by going to the Eiffel Tower and went right to the top to get a great view of Paris. We then went to Luxembourg Gardens for a lovely lunch and a chance to look at some great gardens and a very nice Palace. After that, we went to the Orsay to look at some fantastic modern art. We then made our way back across the Seine to get on the Champs d' Elysees and walked all the way up to the arc d'Triomphe. We then made our way back towards our hostel ... read more

This weekend I made my way to the Imperial War Museum on the South Bank. The Museum is massive and I only made my way through about half of it on this trip. They have many old tanks which you can see in the pictures as well as many interesting exhibits including ones on trench warfare, D-Day and a new exhibit on "Britain's Secret Wars" which look into Britain's MI5 and MI6 of James Bond fame as well as the Special Air Service which is Britiain's primary special forces unit. Last night there was the celebrity party in my dormitory. It was quite the sight with many people putting a lot of effort into their attire. I was quite proud of what I had pulled together and I was told that I looked like George Clooney ... read more

Hi everyone, Sorry to not have written in so long but this week has been quite busy with classes and catching up with friends in London. Since the last time I posted, I have made some travel plans. Next Weekend, February 2-4, I will be traveling with three friends for a weekend in Paris. Should be very exciting for a first time visitor like me. I will be going with one friend who is fluent in French so that can't hurt. I will be sure to catch all the major sites on this visit with hopes of another visit in the future that will coincide with a day trip to the beaches of Normandy to see the D-Day landing sights. However, this time I will make sure to catch all the must sees. As for another ... read more

I thought I would take this opportunity to mention where I actually live in London. I live on Champion Hill next to Denmark Hill in South London. I am roughly three and a half miles outside of Central London. I have a ten minute train ride into London and then I can either take the Underground one stop to campus, or on nice days take the fifteen minute walk along the Thames to get to school. In the photos there are a couple pictures of my room. I live in a rather good size single bedroom in a dorm for about 500 students. Students vary from first years to grad students and there are about ten other Americans from here that I have found. One photo shows the window side of my room and the other ... read more

Hey everyone, So as you saw from your email, I'm going to try and do this travelblog after I saw one of my friends using it. I am in my third week here in London and it is amazing. The first two weeks of my time here I spent taking in lots of the sights. I went to the British Museum twice, National Portrait Gallery twice as well as John Soane's house and a visit to my favorite football club's stadium. I'm sure there have been other things but I have done so much they are probably slipping my mind. This past weekend I did a homestay with an English family in Herne Bay which is on England's East Coast on the North Sea. The Couple were cops so it was fun to hear some of ... read more
