After sleeping my first night in Oxford I left the next morning and headed my way to Bournemouth. I am taking the Overseas Nursing program at their University. It is a month course that you do some in class days (April 24, May 9th and May 23rd) those days you have to be at the university, (this proves you are a resident in the UK, etc) and there is a lecture and you can ask questions. Then on the other days you have a big book to answer questions in. Websites for your answers are provided and when I looked through it, it seems easy enough just a lot of busy work. You don't have to complete a certain amount in a day or anything. The workbook has to be finished by the last day of ... read more

Hey hey guys, Well this blog comes from the South Coast of the U.K and as you can guess I'm living the life of luxury at Hotel 'Chez Grandma'...and let me tell you, this hotel is GREAT! Grandma and Ron, the proprieters, are amazing hosts, the hotel comes with complimentary accomodation including three square meals plus unlimited tea and coffee with a side of biscuits and/or cake. There are always options for lighter meals if you want but there is no judgement if you say eat just a salad for lunch and then wash down 15 cadbury roses chocolates with a cup of tea afterwards! Additionally, the hotel offers a free Taxi service including free pickup and delivery to all major airports and bus terminals and even the gym - and if you book in advance ... read more

For some reason it only recently occured to me that I am graduating this summer and have to enter the real adult world and begin the cycle of job hunting, applications, interviews and all the other dredgery before cheerfully launching myself into the next 50 years of 9-5 work...What an optimist I have become! With this in mind I have decided that I would like to embark on a meaningful project (with a little bit of travel thrown in of course!!) in a country I have never been to (or likely have never heard of) and do some good! Doing things that scare you are definately underrated and after spending five years becoming institutionalised at Bournemouth Uni I think it would be best for me to see a bit of the world from another perspective. I ... read more

So I am off to South Africa tomorrow. I will be spending Christmas and New years at Moholoholo rehabilitation centre which is where I spent 3 months earlier this year. I thought it would be a good idea to keep a journal again for friends and family back home and it is quite nice to read my journal entries once I am home. I'm feeling a little nervous about my trip. I have to fly via Cairo and i'm completely on my own this time ahhh!! I can't wait to see the Bush baby I looked after last time though and I can't wait to see everyone out there again but I don't think its really sunk in yet that i'm actually going. I have barely packed and still have some university work to do! So ... read more

.....well nearly. We are still here, up to our ears in boxes and knee deep in crap from our collapsed sewer. Don't ask. Anyway, the main point of this entry is to check that this blog thing is working. If there are any obvious omissions from my list please let me know. Hope you are all having a nice week at work! :o) Scott and Jenny.... read more

Have sort of packed but my bag but it's sooooo heavy that when i put it on my back i fell over like a turtle and couldn't get up! Will try and sneak some into si's bag! Recommended 10kg my arse...they obviously don't know about ladies bare essentials. Meanwhile I (Simon) haven't packed my bag yet, but somehow vast amounts of conditioner and moisturiser have worked there way in there! Most things are ... read more

Got caught in a bit of traffic, so a bit longer to reach Ed’s than expected, so he was starving by the time I turned up, so we headed straight out, on foot, to Frankie & Benny’s for a very nice meal (I seem to keep saying that, there’s lots of nice food everywhere I go), with a bit of wine, and another good catch up - our family really doesn’t see each other than often! Back to the house for a bit of a look on Facebook and caught up with Hannah’s wedding pictures - lots of them! Then crashed out… Ed had gone to work by the time I woke up. Spent the morning on the internet, sorting out car tax, on Facebook, looking up a few travel bits and bobs, and want my ... read more

TAKEN FROM MY JOURNAL: So its 04.30 the feelings are so intense and confusing - I don’t think I’ve ever felt these emotions before and it's hard to put them into words. I'm shattered but there's no way I’m sleeping tonight, far too many things going around my head; going over things I haven't done, whether I’m doing the right thing, how much is going to change in my absence...... Physically I feel so sick my stomach is turning over and over and over.... I'm having really bad hot flushes, hands pouring with sweat and my breathing....well it's just really hard to regulate it and breathe normally, I’m having to think about every breath I take...... So feeling an emotional wreak the time came to say goodbye to Andi and get going, that just set me ... read more
