Well, as I write this I'm in one of the spare rooms at my grandmothers house in Castle Donington England (in the middle). The journey is and was a long one, having taken off from YVR at 835pm pacific time on Sunday, and arrived here by train from London at 10am pacific time on Monday (it's 8 hours ahead, so it was 6pm here). I took some pills called 'No Jet Lag', so we'll see in the next couple of days whether they work, and I'll either recommend them or not. The journey itself was pretty smooth all in all. The plane was almost to the minute on time. The transition through Heathrow Airport in London was pretty easy, and I slept on the train for the most part. Ironically, tomorrow I'm driving (along with my ... read more

Ok, so it might be a little early to start our blog but the planning part of the trip seemed worthwhile to keep everyone a bit of perspective what it takes to actually get us on this dream holiday thingy! What we've done so far is come up with a plan that will get us the whole way round Australia & New Zealand in 340 days ... we start on Monday 27th April. The plan details what the weather is like in the places we're going to visit and literally how many nights we plan to stay. That was the easy bit because we've 'stolen' the plan which Mum and Dad used when they did the exact same trip 4 or so years ago!! The tough bit is coming up - trying to organise how we ... read more

After paris we came back to London on Eurostar and then hopped on anothertrain to Derby (in the Midlands) to collect the campervan. We then drove to Stratford-on-Avon - quite a long day; but an east drive once we got out of Derby!! Stratford was very pretty and interesting - Ann Hathaways cottage was really amazing; but we enjoyed Warwick even more. From Stratford we drove up to Haworth in Bronte country. The camping ground was very exposed to the moors and the weather was wet, cold and miserable; but we had a lovely time walking around Haworth, visitng Bronte museum, etc. Then over to York. Westayed at a fantastic camp called Naburn Loch. The first thing we saw was about 8 boats coming into the Loch to return to York. Also a very good bus ... read more

Apologies once again for the long time since a travel blog has been published. I have a tale of woe!!! After heading to the 6 Nations England - Italy game in Rome, Big Red decided that she would start to weep oil from the dip stick tube. In Italy, I got a garage to change the oil and I don’t know exactly what grade they put in. They also fixed a leaking diesel injector and replaced the small tubes that link them. They cleaned around the injector with some spray and washed it down with water. The injector does not leak anymore. However, when the camper is under load (I drove over the mountains to Rome) the oil was leaking out of the dip stick tube. I thought this may be the wrong grade oil so ... read more

Our leaving party took place on Saturday 27th Oct. Local pub, karaoke, food and lot and lots of alcohol................ It was emotional at times through the evening - it is not easy saying goodbye to friends and family even if it is only 12 months. We are blessed with solid loyal mates who have looked out for us in various ways and to whom we are always grateful wherever we are. To the lads - Carl and James. Thanks for your understanding support and maturity - you make us proud every day. Even the ones when you are annoying ! Cheers to the Phosco boys for travelling up you are like family to me and I will miss you more than you could believe. My big sister is a star and we love her loads (thanks ... read more

Thank you all for a wonderful send off at the Royal Oak this weekend. It was great that there were so many there. I'm sure that many of you were looking around and thinking "who are all these people?" I know I was. I had planned to say a few words, to introduce all our "families", but you were making too much racket and I was rapidly becoming incoherent. So instead, please see the who's who of photos. Unfortunately, I omitted to snap quite a few friends and neighbours, which is a shame as some had come from as far afield as Pares Way. Hopefully, the next time you get an update, we'll be under way. ... read more
