Over the past 12 months I have taken 18 flights visited 13 countries and covered more kilometers than its actually possible to count. After what seems to have been the quickest 9 months of my life I am about to head back to the real world :o( I sometimes wonder why I do all this traveling I am not sure if I know why I think I have the need to balance life between work and play but it doesnt always work like that. Either its all work or all play!!! I also really believe that as you only live once you have to make the most of every day. Anyway I hope you have enjoyed my updates over the last 9 months and that they have brightened up your day. Its impossible to pick a ... read more

If you hate cooking or cant cook then my advice is to emigrate to Australia. Almost every shop is not a shop its a cafe, bistro, restaraunt, takeaway, coffee shop!!!! Sydneysiders (as the locals are called) really do like their al fresco dining. I have just come from an event (having eaten there) called Noodles in the Park approx 30 stalls selling all possible Asian cusine dishes for ridiculosly low prices and there must have been 3000 locals there. Well I have been on the road now for over two weeks I stopped off in Singapore for 36 hours to break up the plane journey and aclimitised myself with the delights the city had to offer including the world famous Raffles Hotel, the Merlin (water lion) and the bay area where all the bars and restaraunts ... read more

Firstly some of you may have had difficulty accessing my blog site over the past couple of weeks this was due to a major server problem at travelblog.org which has slowly been getting fixed. I am pleased to say its up and running again. Well what a day Saturday 28th July was I finally saw my twin sister Susan married off to her fiancé Wes at long last!!! It was a great day the sun was shinning, everyone stayed fairly calm, the cars (a Rolls-Royce and a Daimler) where fantastic and the venue (Briars Hall) was excellent. The whole event was staged at Briars Hall the civil ceremony, the main reception and the evening reception. It was like a school reunion catching up with so many old friends and family everyone had a great time and ... read more

After arriving in Irkutsk we headed out to Lake Baikal the largest freshwater lake in the world it apparently holds 20% of the worlds freshwater supplies and is bigger than all of Americas 5 great lakes put together. Its also very cold at 3 degrees. We stayed in a traditional wooden house in a village called Listvyanka on the shores of Lake Baikal our landlady was very friendly and an excellent cook after having a guided tour of the area we took it easy and had a traditional "Banya" (sauna) in the evening. 02/07 I headed off for a softies trek whilst Dave went scuba diving in Lake Baikal. My trek was far from soft I have never seen so many flies the minute we stopped walking we were surrounded by 1000's of flies. We walked ... read more

Hello to everyone back in England and welcome to all my new Russian friends who have now been added to my travelblog. I really dont know where to start!!!!! Where have we been? St Petersburg, Moscow, Ekaterinburg, Altai Region and currently in Novosibirsk. What an amazing place the people are very friendly, the most dangerous Russia gets is when you try to cross the road as all the drivers are crazy and there dont appear to be any rules of the road. What have we done? Walked all over St Petersburg, the Hermiatage Museum (probably the best museum in the word if you are into art), cruised the rivers and canals, visted Peterhoff world famous for its golden coloured statues and something like 145 fountains in the palace gardens, also went inside St Isaccs Catherdral. Moscow ... read more

Holiday Boy Route 1 Well its been a while since our last update about 4000KM to be precise!!!! We travelled all the way up to the North Cape the northern most point in Euorpe (that isnt actually the northen most point theres a piece of headland around the corner that sticks out a bit further but thats a 10KM walk to get there!!!!). The Norweigens have tourism sussed though its cost £35 in road tolls to get to the North Cape although I cant complain the road is amazing and even includes a 7KM tunnel under a fjord, that said you then have to pay £20 per person to get into the visitors centre which is a bit of a rip off. After that we headed into Finland as soon as you cross the border ... read more
