Geo: 53.1905, -2.89189Chester, EnglandWe got into Chester about 3:22 thinking it would be an hour stop. But Dylan had other plans. This was going to be a 2 ¼ hour stop! Many of us moaned and groaned about the amount of time, but we didn't say anything to him directly. We have usually been getting to the hotels between 5 and 6 and dead tired after a long day. Then the meals are around 7 and usually heavy type meals. This means that we would not get to the hotel to about 6:30 with a 7:30 meal time! Ugh! Dylan took us on a 20 minute walking tour of the place. Most of the Tudor style looking buildings were actually built in the 13th and 14th century with the Tudor décor added on during the 19th ... read more

The clod from Chester, England, England. 2009, Oct 18th My first full day in the UK will be spent here in Chester (Diva Victrix). I came here because the train was direct with only 1 stop at Crewe before hitting Chester. Perhaps I should have just gone to Crewe but I had heard of Chester and it’s amazing walls and wanted to see them. In addition to the walls it is supposed to have a castle, a cathedral, and a Roman Amphitheatre. The castle was closed but I did see the others and from the look of the castle remains the best part of seeing the castle would be hearing about the history and trying to envision what is once was like. But I didn’t even do that. I did walk on top and along the ... read more

I’ve done a Madonna and got myself a Brazilian boyfriend. Mine is much hotter than hers. And has a more sensible name. Although I’m not really sure how to pronounce it. He’s a graphic designer, and a model. Oh and the lead singer in a band. He’s way out of my league, but he hasn’t noticed yet. Actually he hasn’t met me yet! He lives in the jungle in Brazil. Well he lives in Manaus which is in the jungle. So I’m off to meet him, in Venezuela! Fingers crossed he is the 25 year old he claims to be and not a 60 year old with saggy man boobs. Rayna thinks he’s going to skin me alive when I meet him. I’m pretty sure he won’t. I asked him if that was his plan. Me: ... read more

I visited Chester for the first time. It reminded me of a handsome York or Canterbury, very medeival, but not really old. I think many structures have been preserved for tourists and consumers. Exclusive and popular chain stores exist on the bottom level of these historic buildings. Some frontages seem too slick to be authentic buildings. There are many tourists in the street with cameras. I spent the first few minutes trying to avoid ruining people's shots until I realized that I was standing beside a popular building. Overall I like Chester for what it is, a popular tourist site with handsome buildings.... read more

Here we are.... my last weekend in Chester!! I think perhaps I'm becoming an annoying cling-on as I realise how much I'm going to miss my friends so don't want to let go of them too much!!! I'm currently in Peter's kitchen while he!!!!!! (and not me!!!) is cooking dinner (spag bol... like I'm not gonna get enough of that in Italy! But its free so I'll stay quiet!!). We're just hanging out, killing flies when we can and he's content to make my nice clean kitchen all dirty again!! Mum & Dad are probably somewhere on the M6 right now on their way up to move me outta Chester which is sad but exciting all at the same time!... read more

This morning after an early breakfast, we caught a taxi to Dublin Ferry Port for our 8:45am ferry (Irish Ferries) to Holyhead, Wales. The port is about 10 minutes ride from the city center but cost about 16 euro (expensive, like everything else in Ireland). We checked in checked our luggage, and were on our way right on time. The ferry isn’t quite as nice as the Stena Line and it was quite crowded so we had to share a table with another man. They had a currency exchange on board so we exchanged all of our remaining euros for British pounds. We arrived in Holyhead at 10:45am and took the 11:23am train (Arriva Train Wales) to Bangor, where we had to get off and get our next set of tickets before boarding the next train ... read more

On Monday we drove from Chester to the Lake District which was about a 3 hour drive. We set up camp with Maureen, Alex and David. After one or two or three beers we had a reasonably early night in preparation for our mountain walking the next day. Tuesday morning we set off around 11am to climb Catbell and Maiden Moor. They were both sharp but short climbs and windy as hell when we got to the top. We left Maureen and David and climbed the steepest of the 2 - Maiden moor. Once we got to the top we had a few piccies (see insert) and had some nice cheap home made sanga’s and coffee in our awesome thermas! The way down was something else again - imagine snowboarding style but jumping sideways into rocks ... read more

Well i never made it to Carnarefon. Maybe Simons tardiness is wearing off on me, hopefully not! HAHHA today I stayed in while the guys left first. I wanted to do some writing and call the OVARY!!! That i did and i kinda fucked up because it was still hella early but Mikey answered and he loves getting up early anyways hahaha (dont ya mikey). So talked with him for a bit which was nice, caught up to speed which didnt take too long! Had some cereal because i couldn't do another grease breaky. Then i headed down to the train station and got myself a ticket to Chester. The train wasn't due for like 20 mins so i went off exploring, not wasting a minute of my precious time. Found a nice art gallery in ... read more
