05 September 2019 The weather changed today from clear blue skies to steady rain. But we donned our waterproof gear and walked up the valley a short way to the Trümmelbachfäll. This is a river which drains the glaciers and snowfields on the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau and corkscrews down the cliffs with tremendous force and noise in a narrow and deep ravine via a series of waterfalls. It was an exciting and for us unique sight.... read more

04 August 2019 There is a cog railway which starts in Lauterbrunnen at an altitude of 796m and runs steeply via Wengen (1247m), and Kleine Scheidegg (2016m) to arrive via a tunnel in the Eiger at Jungfraujoch(3454m) on the saddle between the Mönch and Jungfrau and the highest station in Europe. As the weather forecast was good for the day, we had booked tickets for the trip, but unfortunately Wendy had an upset stomach, so I made the journey on my own. I caught the 7.35 train which arrived at Jungfraujoch at 9.05. The next 3 hours were spent admiring the view of the surrounding peaks and 23k long Aletsch Glacier from the Sphinx meteorological station, walking up to the Mönchsjochhütte at 2650m and being amazed at the number of other tourists who turned up as ... read more

03/09/2019 We drove into the Bernese Oberland and spent a few hours at the attractive old town of Thun at the head of the lake of the same name. A beautiful drive along the lake was followed by the climb up to Lauterbrunnen situated in a cliff side valley with many waterfalls and dominated by the Jungfrau, Monch and Eiger mountains all of which have an altitude above or close to 4,000m.... read more

02/09/19 We left Chapelle today, dropped off Geoff and Katie at Aigle station for them to catch a train to Leysin for the start of a week-long walking holiday. Then it was a drive north west into the Swiss mountains to spend the night at the small swiss resort of Zweissimen.... read more

I get up early as I want to have a short walk to watch the sun rise. It is a beautiful morning. I have been watching the forecast for these last few days since I started the trip. It had shown rain consistently for weeks so I was delighted when this changed a couple of days before arriving in St Moritz. Both staying this high up on the Muottas Muragl and doing the Glacier Express trip are bound to be much nicer if the weather is kind, and I have been truly lucky with the weather throughout this trip. This early walk is the only time so far that I have put on my fleece, and that is only because it is so early. I only had rain one evening in Nürnberg and the thunderstorm in ... read more

Sometimes, the craziest ideas lead to memorable experiences - in this case, a trip with a scooter through parts of Switzerland. Oh man, was it great fun! I, Nina, needed a break from the daily routine. I was too tired of working never-ending hours. OK, by working for your own company, this is different. But still, when creative ideas stop coming and one is only tired, then it is definitely time for a short break. So I decided to go to Ticino, the italian speaking part of Switzerland. As we are currently expanding our business to this region, a trip had the pleasant side effect to know this region a bit better (and to look for places where we might establish our second office is the near future). Markus could not join straight away, but came ... read more

Today I leave the lovely Tirol and Sue’s for Switzerland. Most of this trip was about checking out cities for the tours next summer, but I also wanted to spend a couple of days in Switzerland towards the end of my adventure. One of the main reasons is that I had it in my head to take a trip on the Glacier Express that runs from St Moritz to Zermatt (although you can opt to do sections of it too). Sue kindly gives me a lift to Innsbruck station where I catch the Railjet (such fantastic trains) from Innsbruck heading to Zurich. I have to change at Sargans and Chur, but in typical Swiss fashion, these trains all connect up, so there is no hanging around anywhere. It really is a delightful journey. From Innsbruck the ... read more

Findlay's reunite in Interlaken, Sarah from the UK with her boyfriend and Mum, Dad and Dan from NZ. Unfortunately Murray was at World Water week in Stokholm so missed the family trip, but had a very productive time in the pre meetings to the conference. We were blessed with amazing weather and an apartment that was located near the main park in Interlaken. We were able to walk around, enjoying the rivers and para-gliders coming into land in the park near us. Mum shouted us a trip up the Jungfraujoch. An expensive trip but well worth it. It was more touristy than I had realised. Catching the bus up and then 2 train trips to get to the top. Where there are tunnels leading you to different areas. There was the Ice palace which was great ... read more

We awoke in our mountain cabin to light rain. The air was still and warm. There were clouds well below us in the valley. The hotel was at 1,408m above sea level and the views were amazing. After a wonderful breakfast including yogurt, butter and milk from the dairy next door we drove back down to the valley floor and made our way through Switzerland ?? to the lovely town of Colmar in France ??.
