A mountain day today. Just cannot visit Switzerland without a trip up at least one mountain as mountains are what Switzerland is all about. Just over 4 years ago on our last visit to Lake Lucerne we went up both Mount Rigi and Pilatus. I had to use a stick then as my knee was so bad but since then that knee has been fixed and now also my left hip. No stick needed today 😊 😊 We drove to Engelberg which was a lovely ride first of all right through Lucerne, then following the lake before turning away and heading up the mountains. Don’t think I have ever managed to take quite so many photos in one day before. There are just so many gorgeous Swiss chalets and mountains and valleys all waiting to be ... read more

Breakfast in Engelberg. Can you really call bread, bread, more bread, cereal, some bread and coffee breakfast? Ha. Many of my tour mates were not their chipper selves this morning. Everyone looked to be in pretty rough shape, courtesy of Pom Pom's great P-party and the Spindle bar. I wasn't too bad, all things considered. A little slow, but overall okay. I was too excited to be hungover - today we were going up Mount Titlis! Yup. Titlis. It IS pronounced the way you think it is and we were totally juvenile and giggled at it over and over again. I brought a sweater and wore a jean jacket as we walked from the hotel across the road to the check-in chalet at the base of the mountain. We were packed into a trolley like sardines ... read more

At 3am this morning Jet Lag was clearly affecting Kellie, and so at these early hours of the morning, whilst writing the day before's blog, she decided that the day was going to hold new adventures. Gathering as many tour brochures as she could find from the hotel lobby at 3am in the morning Kellie embarked on trying to find the tour that will help them to see quintesential Switzerland, in just ONE DAY! THE DECISION WAS MADE..... WE WERE GOING TITLIS! Apart from the helarious name, the tour sounded amazing and would turn out to be a day full of firsts, and a day we will never forget. The day consisted of a bus tour out to central Switzerland through a town called Lucerne where we stopped briefly in the morning to see a ... read more

Amsterdam (NE) - Cologne (GER) - St. Goar (GER) - Lucerne (SW) - Engleberg (SW) Another 6am wake up call, with many unhappy faces in the lobby for your trip to the Rhine valley for the next portion of our trip through Europe. We were supposed to make a one-way trip to a little town called St. Goar located on the Rhine River. You probably will not find it on many maps, as population is barely 3000 people. However we were fortunate enough to stop in the town of Cologne (Koln) in Germany first and be taken to one of the largest gothic cathedrals in the world. Now I had been here before but did not get a chance to go. This church was one of the very few last remaining buildings left standing in Cologne ... read more

Another totally awesome perfect day! Woke up around 7:30 and took my shower, nice and slowly. Ahhhh.. Breakfast this morning was around 9:00 and was another toast morning. Boo. Then, by 9:40, everyone was pretty much ready to go but Brek. Apparently, he had a long drunken night. So we head out to Mount Titlis, which is a beautiful walk to the mount. While waiting outside, I decided it was a good idea to rent some gloves for the mountain top, which was apparently -5° C. Ok, I’m convinced. So that was ₣5.50. Then off to the top! We hopped onto a cable car seating about 4. That was a nice ride where we got to hear the sounds of cowbells on real cows. Beatuiful. The second cable car took about 50, and that was a ... read more
