Amsterdam (NE) - Cologne (GER) - St. Goar (GER) - Lucerne (SW) - Engleberg (SW) Another 6am wake up call, with many unhappy faces in the lobby for your trip to the Rhine valley for the next portion of our trip through Europe. We were supposed to make a one-way trip to a little town called St. Goar located on the Rhine River. You probably will not find it on many maps, as population is barely 3000 people. However we were fortunate enough to stop in the town of Cologne (Koln) in Germany first and be taken to one of the largest gothic cathedrals in the world. Now I had been here before but did not get a chance to go. This church was one of the very few last remaining buildings left standing in Cologne ... read more

Hello All, I have eventually found a place where I can relax, a delightful little city called Brugge in Belgium. Time for a little relaxation and time to soak up the European Culture. After literally sprinting through 6 different countries in 16 days, I am exhausted. My body is quite run down and I have gotten a terrible cold that I cannot seem to shake. I will do my best to give everybody a run down of my Contiki European Encounter, September 2006. Days 1 - 3, London (UK) - Dover (UK) - Calais (FR) - Amsterdam (NE) Well my last few days in the UK were a blur as I tried to buy a car for my travels through Europe after my tour. Well the person I bought the car from turned out to be ... read more

Well we have finally arrived at the last destination of Edinburgh, Scotland on my initial road trip through England and Scotland. Now I have so badly wanted to come back here ever since I spent sometime here all the way back in 2001. This city made such an incredible impression on me all that time ago; it was simply a must to return. I am writing this a few days after my return from Edinburgh and having a slight case of writers block. I am currently staying with my stepbrother, Stephen and this girlfriend, Angela in the suburb of Streatham Hill. I have been staying here for a couple of days before I move on to my travels in mainland Europe. Be aware when traveling to Edinburgh during the month of August, it is near impossible ... read more

I write this blog from my hotel just outside of Edinburgh, Scotland, my last stop on an extraordinary road trip through England and Scotland. I have just had the pleasure of spending the last three days in and around Lake Windermere and the Hilthwaite Hotel. A huge thanks must go out to my brother, Warrick and Mr. And Mrs. S, owners of the Hotel that Felicia and I stayed at. My brother had worked at this rather exclusive little hotel close to Lake Windermere and befriended the owners, who in turn allowed me to stay at their hotel. But a little more about that later … Well I am gong to change this blog up a little as this area of the country is well worth every word. Now the Lake District in an amazing place, ... read more

Well Felicia and I are really into the road trip now and let me tell all of you back in the USA (and even RSA), be so extremely grateful. Gas over here is a mere $7.20 a gallon and it cost us an over 40 pounds to fill our gas tank (approx. 40 liter tank = approx.10 gallon tank). And this little Fiat Punto, with its littlw 1.2 liter engine, as all the power of a ladies wristwatch. With my road trip later in my vacation, air travel really does not look all that bad right now (or the train). Other than experiencing severe sticker shock at the gas prices we arrived in the very south west of England in the very pleasant little seaside town of Penzance. This town is famous for its pirate and ... read more

Before I start this new blog, I would to submit a new mathematical formula into any new travel planning exercise. This is a measure of just how much trouble you (the male) are going to be in when traveling with your partner (the female). However this does come with warning label, if you cherish your health, you can never make mention of this. It’s a rather simple formula actually and goes a little something like this; there is an exponential relationship between the pain and discomfort you are going to experience as the total weight of your partners luggage moves towards half of their partner weight. If her luggage exceeds half of her weight, cancel your trip; the pain will be too great. We woke up rather late on Sunday morning at 10am, with a slight ... read more

Hello All, First of all, too all my friends and family, I hope that you understand that it is incredibly difficult for me to keep in touch with all of you. I am doing the best I can and this blog will keep you up to date with my whereabouts and what I am currently up too. Otherwise I hope all of you are keeping well and I look forward to seeing all of you when I return to the US or SA... Well, I eventually left for England and Gatwick Airport after another round of terror arrests in England. However, I can say that I hardly noticed any difference at the airports, except to get stopped because I had a tube of toothpaste in my bag! The upside was that the airports were quieter and ... read more

While Galileo Galilei may have gone before the church in Rome (1612) and professed that the earth was not the center of the universe (according to the Copernican theory) and for such heresy he was put under house arrest for the remainder of his life. Well Galileo Galilei obviously has never been to New York City (especially Times Square), if he had, he may have made an small exception before ratifying this theory. I was born to live in this city, its simply incredible. I know that it maybe a concrete jungle, but the cosmopolitan make up of the people makes it’s so incredibly interesting. I believe that London is the only other city that comes close to NYC. Well, I landed in NYC, a day after the arrests in England of the terrorists involved in ... read more

Hello Everybody, I promised that I would put together a travel blog to ensure that my incredible trip that I am about to embark on is captured and seen by friends and family. So be sure to check back here on a regular basis for updates. I am currently in Dallas, TX, not a place that I ever thought that I would find myself in. But I am out here spending time with with my girlfriend Felicia, who I get to see very little of due to geographical constraints. But I really like the city ... a look of very beautiful people and lots and lots of money every where you look ... its surreal sometimes ... As you all know by now, I quit my job at Accu-Tech Corporation after working there for nearly 4 ... read more
