(my camera got stolen since I wrote this, so no pics) Wow, I woke up this morning feeling like a CHAMPION! It’s amazing what a good nights rest can do for you. Up until this point, I had mainly stayed up late, partying, and rushed to wake up to see some amazing things. After just hanging out all day, my battery was FULLY recharged. Our first order of business was to get some food in us. We chose this restaurant right around the corner from our hostel (off the Gran Via) on our way to the Royal Palacio. I had the eggs, ham, and patatas and a beer. (Side note: in the Spanish I’m used to, we call them “papas fritas”, here in Spain, they call them patatas. So weird haha). I know having a beer ... read more

Ok, so I know I haven’t updated the blog in quite a few days. Sorry, but I’ve been quite busy. I’m going off recollection, so I may be omitting some things. Lucky for you, I have a great memory though haha. Also, I'm writing this while I'm in Barcelona and I got my damn camera stolen today, so unfortunately I won't be able to add pics for Madrid or my first couple days in Barcelona :( I'm going to buy a camera tomorrow and try to snap some pics so you can see Barcelona. Anyways, here's the blog......... Oh, my god……. Will this old man, EVER shut the hell up?!?!?!??! That was the basic theme of the night. It started off with my friend and I waking up at 9am after going to bed at 6. ... read more

Día 16- June 8, 2008 Today we returned to Madrid… it was kind of hard to wake up this morning (didn’t get to bed till 4, had to be up at 8…) but we caught our bus home (10 am) and had a verrrry restful drive home (I slept the entiiiire way). Kim and I took the metro home, and Pilar had a nice Spanish tortilla waiting for us for lunch, and our clean laundry was laying neatly on our beds—shes such a sweet heart! I was pretty tired, but instead of taking a nap, I updated my travel journal a bit and wasted an immense amount of time on facbeook (as always). Then I began doing a little bit of my hw (this next week is midterms week!) and I have a 10 minute oral ... read more

We arrived in this interesting city yesterday and have walked around in awe at the magnificent cathedral and the many smaller churches. Pilgrims abound, having walked a minimum of 112K to receive the certificate of compostela (the way of the stars that led the monk to the remains of St. James - brother of John). We attended mass this morning at the cathedral. We cannot upload photos on this computer, so will send one later. The entire King of Glory could fit into one section. The pre-service was chanting in Latin by the priests; at least eight of them. They then processd with five altar boys and one of the priests was the singing leader. The essence of the sermon - from what we could glean - was that if we choose to trust God who ... read more

Geo: 43.257, -2.92344I'm leaving Canada on the Summer Solstice, and arriving in Spain the day after. What better way is there to welcome the summer than to bask in the beautiful Basque sun? I wandered around the Calgary airport to kill some time ... too bad there is nothing to see here! This year, I haven't taken the time to study/practice Spanish like I have in previous years; trying to sweep a beautiful Spanish girl off her feet made this a requirement, but no beautiful Spanish girl this year means no Spanish cramming beforehand. But still, I feel the need to brush up a bit, in the event that I meet another Spanish hottie! So today, I've been listening to Spanish language lessons and music on my iPod.I haven't been excited at all about this trip until ... read more

It's flown these last few days, Thursday 19th. We popped to Palma and tried to show the girls some culture, as you can probably imagine they weren't too impressed. And the green man had changed into a roman Centurion who we had a sword fight with, we done 2 caches nearby the Parc de la Mar! It really is a lovely city, the cathedral and palace is lovely, all though we didnt go in ( as we had been round them before) and didn't think it would be the girls cup of tea. We wandered up the old streets, it somehow reminds me of the lanes in Brighton. We came back to the pool mid afternoon and the girls made friends with a Spanish Girls with broken Spanglish. We went to a great restaraunt for Steak, ... read more

Sunday 15 June 2008 Tasha and Drew came round to drop off a plant at our's and we went to the Japanese buffet down the road for lunch. The waitress accidentally spilled Drew's coke on him, to which he responded by jumping up rather abruptly and looking like he was going to hit someone. Funny for us, not for him. Monday 16 June 2008 I only had 2 people in my evening class today - the women. And one of them kept taking phone calls during the class. But I had a kit-kat as a prize for the activity, so at least someone left happy... Tuesday 17 June 2008 I did Message In A Bottle (The Police) in my afternoon class today - they found it soooo difficult! Oh dear... Wednesday 18 June 2008 Raj came ... read more
