We survived the bull run! It was a fantastic, tiring couple of days but completly worth it! I´ll mention what we got up to in Madrid first, not much at all really! Coming from Scotland where it had been raining and windy the whole time and hitting 38 Deg it was just exhusting for us two! The first day there we were buggered from the travels getting to Spain so we just foud a park and had a siesta for a few hours to get out of the midday heat. Still we had plenty of time to have a look around the city that afternoon and the next day and on the whole there wasn´t to much to see in the city. I have heard that it can be quite boring on the eye but the ... read more

On arrival I realised I had done my back in from dragging the suitcase around :os Nevertheless I still had to get to the accomodation. I found the overground but it wasn't stopping at the stop I was told to get off at so I go off at Passeig de Gracia station. This bastard station is so big and had a walkway a mile long just to get to the line I needed. Plus there were not lifts or down escalators so I had to pull the suitcase down SOOO many flights of stairs I was afraid the handle would snap from the force! Eventually I got out at my stop, Sagrada Familia (The unfinished Gaudi Cathedral) and got my first real view of Barcelona since the airport..And what a view to make up for the ... read more

San Juan de l'Arena, Oviedo, Gijon, Aviles, Pravia. A one month trip! Are not so many places to visit but the beauty of this region are not the monuments, which are nice, but the people and the food, soooo much food like the "patatas al cabrales". Summer is the best season to visit this region. Each weekend there's a party in one city, different for the weekend before. You take the car go to those little cities and let's the party started!... read more

... read more

With only a few hundred kilometers left of spanish coastline to cover, we enjoyed the day cruising through the small towns that lay between Finisterre and Baiona. We camped out just north of the Portugal boarder, deciding to tackle a new country and language after a good night´s rest. Our fisrt encounter with people from Portugal was at a carny...and yes there are even midgets in Portugal. We quickly discovered that portugese is not an easy language to fake. You should´ve seen us trying to order a round of hot dogs. Later in the day we pulled into a busy campsite in the town of Villa de Conde and rented a bungalo for two nights. Dan, Mike and I had a good jam night with people staying at the campsite. We came to this town in ... read more

What a long week. We had classes 5 days this week, rather than the normal 4 to make up for a festival day we had off during our first week here. After classes Friday, we went on a little field trip just in town to learn more about Segovia. First, we went to the cathedral. It’s right in the plaza mayor. I’m sure I’ve posted pictures of the plaza with the cathedral in it. It was the last gothic style cathedral built in Spain. It took 200 years to complete (1500-1700ish). On top of all that, it is the tallest cathedral in Spain: not the biggest, the tallest. And boy is it HUGE!!! You really just wouldn’t believe how tall it is unless you saw it. Pictures do nothing. When you walk in, lining the sides ... read more

Hello from the Madrid airport! I got no sleep whatsoever on the plane despite taking a tylenol pm. I didn´t go to the zoo as planned today :-( . I decided to just hang out at the airport since it took me over two hours to even slightly understand where I am in this place not to mention somehow exiting the security area and then when I went to go back through I somehow made the beeper go off and I had to be searched. Also I have no idea how to get a taxi. Besides no sleep the flight wasn´t bad. It is really weird flying into madrid.... mountains and hills and all these little towns... but barely no trees! Well, got to go, time is running out. Love yous mom and jamie- the information ... read more

WOW!! What an adventure in Pamplona! A group of us (9 total) went to the encierro... AKA the running of the bulls. No amount of study, knowledge, understanding of the culture, etc. could have adequately prepared me for the experience. It was absolutely amazing... something I think that every person should see at some point in their life. We left Salamanca on Friday afternoon as soon as classes got out. It was an interesting adventure getting out of town, but eased by the use of a GPS system that one of the girls brought with her. We traveled for about 3.5 hours through the most beautiful countryside I´ve ever seen. It even beat the scenary in Colorado! It was so incredibly green! The mountains were amazing, and we curved in and around them most of the ... read more
