Oh my gosh…this was my last full weekend here in Spain!!! It just hit me. Time certainly is flying. I’ll be home this Saturday night! Well…pray for my flight for me. This felt like the longest week ever! I guess my professors realized we’re almost through here and assigned us way too much homework. So during the week, I didn’t do much other than working on papers and relaxing. This weekend though, I had fun. Friday, we had an excursion to el Escorial and Valle de los Caídos. First, el Escorial. What a long week. We had classes 5 days this week, rather than the normal 4 to make up for a festival day we had off during our first week here. After classes Friday, we went on a little field trip just in town to learn more about Segovia. First, we went to the cathedral. It’s right in the plaza mayor. I’m sure I’ve posted pictures of the plaza with the cathedral in it. It was the last gothic style cathedral built in Spain. It took 200 years to complete (1500-1700ish). Well, I'm not in Barcelona anymore, but I was there a few hours ago! I had quite the weekend. We left on the midnight bus to Barcelona and arrived around 7am after some taxi and bus changes. It felt like a 5 minute bus ride to me because I feel right asleep. People are starting to notice that I fall asleep very quickly here. I guess now I know that I've got that Cetnor gene too! Hello from across the pond (as Jeffrey would say)! Nothing super exciting has been happening in the past few days, just class and hanging around town. This past Friday was our first excursion of the trip. We went to a winery and 2 castles. Lets talk about the winery first. It was the more boring place I´ve been too. First of all, it was 11 in the morning and second of all, she did not have many grape plants. I was expecting Napa Valley or something, but it was a let down. Monday night was supposed to be the start of la fiesta de San Juan with bands and fireworks, but it started to POUR!!! I can not explain to you how crazy town was. Everyone was scattering and running as if they'd die. It was definatly an experience. I ran 15 minutes home in the pouring rain. Everything I was wearing was soaked: hoodie, tshirt, bra, capri's, underwear, purse. I had to wring my clothes out. Hola from Spain! I made it to Spain early Friday morning. It was quite a flight-definatly not an easy one. Our flight from Detroit to Amsterdam was about 8 hours with the worst landing I´ve ever had. It was just a straight shot down. I really thought I was going to throw up. We literally ran through Schiphol in Amsterdam and made it just in time for our Amsterdam to Madrid.
