Barcelona is Spain's second city and the capital of the proud and distinct region of Catalunya. The Ramblas is two different streets by day and by night. We stroll it from top to bottom, there is plenty of street entertainment going on all day & night. We took the cable car up to Montjuic (mon-joo-EEK) for a commanding view of Barcelona and its harbour. We spent 5 days in Barcelona and saw and toured plenty including: Picasso Museum, Sagrada Familia Cathedral, Parc Guell, Cable Car to Montjuic, Las Ramblas, Barcelona Cathedral and the Barri Gotic. ... read more

Barcelona is a great city once you get outside of the tourist madness near Las Ramblas, which you should avoid at night because of the chaos. You could safely walk through plenty of crowded tourist centers throughout the world and be fine but 3 people tried to rob me in an hour and there’s not much police can do since it’s so crowded. You might as well swim through a shark tank. But the city will still probably exceed your expectations. La Sagrada Famiglia is really impressive, but it doesn't photograph well due to construction and the tour didn’t capture much either. Hope that you live long enough to see it finished. I went on a bike tour of Gaudi architecture and enjoyed it all. The man-made beach isn't the islands, but it's better than nothing. ... read more

We had a one day tour to Barcelona, Spain. We took a train from Valencia and it was a sight while traveling along the Mediterranean Sea. We rode the tour bus and went around Barcelona for a day. I liked Barcelona too. Wished we stayed one more day but we had to go back to Paris and we had a full week ahead of us - Lourdes, Versailles, Rome and Florence! ... read more

The port of Barcelona is massive. One of the largest in the Mediterranean, if not the largest. So, logically, many of the grandest and greatest buildings are located around it. As a gate to the city, at the end of Las Ramblas, Christopher Columbus on his column is bridging the port with the rest of the city. MareMagnum fills the gap between the bustling streets and the water. The complex contains a huge aquarium, and a very good one at it. It also hosts a large shopping center. Arcade hall, shops, restaurants, the works. And, on top of it all a big terrace. A miniature golf court in the middle, with nightclubs and bars lining up around it. Something for everyone. A port does not only have to be a dock for ships, sleezy bars and ... read more
