It’s Monday here and I’m back to blogging. On Saturday morning we all rose bright and early to go on another group excursion. First we drove two hours to Salamanca where we toured the University of Salamanca which resembled something out of Harry Potter. Parts of the Univ. are still used today and it is the 3rd oldest Univ. in the world. We then toured another cathedral which looked the same as the one in Segovia. But there was an actual wedding going on which wasn’t closed off and we passed through it. There was actually a total of 2 weddings that day. We then had some time to shop where I got a Univ of Salamanca zip up sweater with matching t-shirt. Which I was thankful for because it was so cold out. After that ... read more

Hola familia, y amigos, Can you believe I’ve already been here 3 weeks. When it’s time I’ll be ready to come home but there is still a lot I have to see and do. Hope the weather has improved in Michigan. It was actually a little cold here this weekend. This past Friday we toured the caste again ( the school never told us we were going there, so I went twice) and the main cathedral. I have enclosed pictures of the cathedral. It is a gothic cathedral which was built in the 16th and 17th centuries and was the last gothic construction built in Spain. At night the cathedral is lit up with yellow lights. See next post for Sat and Sun. Love, Nicole ... read more

Yesterday, after siesta a few girls and I went to the local castle in Segovia. It is called the Alcazar and was once home to Spain’s Royalty. It was much prettier than the one I saw on my last excursion. I have included some pictures for you all to enjoy. At times the castles and old buildings are mountainous but to think that someone lived there at one time is really cool. We topped the afternoon off with some gelato before dinner, which was fun. That is my favorite part, just sitting at a café for a while without worrying about, oh someone needs my table, gotta go. Not in Europe. Hope you all are doing well. Love, Nicole ... read more

Hello everyone, Hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July, even though I heard it rained in Cinn. for Adam’s baseball and hope Grandma’s 80th birthday went well. Well this past weekend was a lot of fun. We left Thursday night at 7pm and took the bus to Madrid from there another bus to Barcelona and 8 hours later @ 6:45am we arrived in Barcelona. A taxi took us to the hotel where it was too early to check in but we dropped off our bags and spent the next 3 hours walking around. (Don’t worry it wasn’t dangerous no one is awake before 10 in Spain). We finally found the beach and then we had breakfast. We strolled down Las Ramblas which is the main shopping district. When we returned our hotel wasn’t ready ... read more

Hello from across the pond (as Jeffrey would say)! Nothing super exciting has been happening in the past few days, just class and hanging around town. For those of you who don't have facebook (aunts and uncles), I just realized you guys haven't seen pictures of my house. I have a very large house. You walk in through the basement. Up one flight of stairs is the main floor with the kitchen and bedrooms, and up one more floor is my mom's floor with her study and bedroom. I'm so lucky that I have such a beautiful house! I have no pictures of my family yet. I'll post that when I can. As for this weekend, tonight at 11, 7 of the girls from my program and I are leaving on an 8 hour bus ride ... read more

Quick update July 1st, 2008. Wow can you believe it, it’s already July 1st, One more month to go, I’m enjoying things here but when the time comes I will be ready to go home. I miss everyone terribly but by staying busy it helps. Today we spent a very long time planning the trip to Barcelona, which is 9 hours away on a bus. We have finally got it all set though, we leave Thursday night and will sleep on the bus and will wake up and be in Barcelona. I’m looking forward to it except the bus part the train was really expensive. I just hope we made the right choice to go there instead of going to Valencia. The group is splitting up again which works out fine. My roommate is cramming both ... read more
