I love to ride my bike! Thats all I can say. We left our little abode, turned right and started riding. Fields of corn, sunflowers, creeks and lots or rain clouds. I was just so happy riding on the winding road but i know that Jeff was kvelling to do some heavy off road biking. After about two hours there was a very small sign that I happened to miss (what a suprize) that read: Stanjel 2 km. I looked at Jeff, I looked at the MOUNTAIN. What could I do?- 25 years of marriage I guess it's time to give in so I told Jeff: "only if I get some coffee up at the castle" As a good friend of mine once said. "If you want coffee go to Italy!" Made it up the hill ... read more

Hi everyone again! Big news! Tonight after coming home from our walk, showering kids, etc.... Mia lost her first tooth! It has been wobbly well before we left home, but it got to the stage where we thought she couls swallow it. So I pulled it out. Basically it popped out by itself. Mia was very shocked but excited that finally she was in a league like Alex, the big girl league! Of course this made Sienna start to cry because she has not lost a tooth! Its a bit of deja vu! I have attached some photos of our Slovenia trip, just a few to get you in the mood! We visited Stefan Majcan and his family yesterday with Opa (AKA translator)! Seriously there were many things they asked me, that blew me away! They ... read more

I already knew Slovenia was going to be different when we were waiting for our connecting flight in Vienna. All 30 of us were taken on a bus to a lear jet parking lot. The bus stopped in front of our little white plane and as we walked up the stairs into this lear jet - I felt like princes Diana ( may she rest in peace ) boarding her private plane to some private destination. I pondered as I was buckling up in my grey leather seat that if this plane crashes at least I'm going in style. One thing for sure : NOT ALOT OF PEOPLE fly to Slovenia. fast forward A half an hour later - we were exiting an airport so small it took about 5 minutes from plane to train. ... read more

É, porém, e como o leitor sabe bem, o ... read more

Left Gorizia fairly early this morning and headed into Slovenia. I honestly wasn't sure why on earth we were going to Slovenia, of all the places in the world, but my non-expectations have been thoroughly exceeded and I think it was what we needed to get over the emotional drama of yesterday. Our first stop was at Predjama castle. Pred apparently means 'before' in Slovenian, and jama means 'cave'... So three guesses as to where this castle was located. But the name doesn't really do it justice. When you come up the hill and look at the Castle, it looks like something out of a fairy tale. It's white, and set straight into the side of a cliff. Our guide there pointed out that there was also an earlier castle actuallz _in_ the cave in the ... read more

This past summer (2010) I took a long weekend to travel down from Prague to Slovenia. I still continue to conjure up beautiful images of Triglav National Park to this day. I would highly recommend a visit if you are able. I would like to go back and see more of the country one day, but do feel that I saw that best that Slovenia had to offer while I was there. A couple nights I spent in Bled and then another in the capital, Ljubljana. I would recommend a drive through Triglav Park allowing for time to hike. A highlight for me was a long hike down the Soca River where the water was an unbelievable turquoise color. If I had more time I would set off to hike Mount Triglav which is the mountain ... read more
