Friday 22 February 2008 With James’ car filled to the brim with ski gear and beer that had been chilled in the ‘fridge’ (photo), meaning that it had been put on the balcony to be snowed on overnight, we drove off into the mountains on our way to Hemsedal. The road was icy and increasingly snowy as we left Oslo and drove to higher altitudes. Light snow was falling and the landscape was just stunning (photos). As night fell we continued driving and the snow became increasingly heavier. With the headlights on, it looked like driving through the opening scene for Star Wars (photo). After a full day of travelling through the mountains and incredible scenery, and crossing fjords by ferry, and through numerous tunnels we stay at a revamped farm with several lovely cabins and a sensational menu - Westeras - we befriend the ponies - then next morning after we check out we climb the remainder of the mountain to where the waterfall crashes over the edge (we even walk down a path that takes you right under the falls - thunderous) Chris drives us to a lookout nearby that is directly overhead the end of the fjord, which now has about 5 cruise ships anchored. Bonjour a tous! Ca fait un bout de temps que je n’ai pas donné de nouvelles alors je me mets au boulot ! Depuis quelques temps déjà je peux dire que l’on est vraiment en hiver. La neige est là, elle ne fond plus et les températures sont de saison (-10 degrés environ, -15 prévu la semaine prochaine...). Il y a deux weekends en arrière, on a profité avec Thea d’aller faire du ski dans une station norvégienne assez populaire du nom de Hemsedal. 3h de route pour aller découvrir les Alpes norvégiennes (ce n’est pas moi qui le dit, c’est la pub).
