After a long flight over... well two long flights over (one with 7 hours of no entertainment system) I Finally made it to Amsterdam. Was great to see a familiar face on the other side of the arrivals terminal, which was just as great to not have to find my way to into town and look for a hostel at 6am. Given the long flight it was natural that I should have a snooze, so it was said we would sleep for a few hours until 1... so while in bed I woke up, had a look at my clock and it was only 11, so off I went into another deep sleep only to be woken up again not long after... at 3pm. Apparently when I looked at the time on my phone it was ... read more

Not the best of nights with screaming laughter punuating the air throughout, finally sleeping we woke to heavy rain. We shouldn’t complain as this is the first real rain we have had on our travels to date but being British….we DO!! Woolly was all for staying in bed for the day but we wrapped ourselves up and set off to Amsterdam for a second time. The trams are so efficient and running every ten minutes makes it easy to get to everywhere you want to. Alighting in Dam Square (still no Dams to be seen) we took a couple of snaps before following the map to Anne Frank’s House. Woolly says – Jo made me stand in the rain for over half an hour in the queue for Anne Frank’s House. I could have stayed with ... read more

Getting an early start is unusual for us but we made it off the site by 9.30am ready for the day ahead, the first stop was to be the Delft Pottery, finding it was easy enough we just followed the coaches, getting in proved to be a problem, two hours wait, we decided to leave it and head to our next destination Woolly says – This was the one I had been looking forward to most, Woolly World. The drive there was horrible with cars back to back most of the way, we saw two accidents and thought we would be stuck in traffic for the rest of the day, finally we made it to the miniature world of Madurodam based in The Hague, it was opened in 1952 and has buildings both modern and old ... read more

On our fourth night in berlin, we gathered up our meager belongings for our overnight train trip to amsterdam. We went to the train station around 11:45pm in anticipation of our 12:35pm train. The traiN Station itself was open air, so there was not a single warm place to wait. We ended up splurging on a 2euro bottle of diet coke so that we could sit in a cafe that was maybe 10 deg warmer than the freezing temperatures outside. Around 12:30 we wandered reluctantly our of our warm nook onto the platform, only to find that the train was delayed 15 min. instead of freezing on the platform, we took the escalator to the station where we could at least hide out from the bitter wind. There were others who followed our lead, inclouding one ... read more

As soon as you tell people that you’re are going to Amsterdam, they all know why. Trying to tell them that you’re going for the architecture, or to immerse yourself in Dutch, or pick tulips is just fruitless. We all know that you’re going for one reason and one reason only. Everything else is secondary – a pleasant after thought. So let’s be honest with ourselves fellow travellers, we go to Amsterdam to be able to smoke/eat weed in public and not have an overwhelming wave of panicked terror every time you hear a noise and automatically assume it’s a policeman. The Red Light District is Amsterdam’s main pulling factor; housing anything and everything that any adult’s wicked side could dream of. It’s the ultimate adult’s playground. Swap slides for brownies, swings for the half naked ... read more

Welcome to one of the greatest cities in the world. Amsterdam is a city to relax and to get crazy at the same time. There are nice museums to visit, many casinos to have fun, a red light district to say whooowhooooo and great roads to ride a bike... I was there for only three days on icy cold days of November in 2010 but I can say that nothing can stop you from having fun in this city. I stayed at a hostel and it was pretty comfortable. Buses and a tram is always at service to take you anywhere in the city but of course I recommend walking to explore it better. The Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh museum should be visited. Anne Frank House should be ... read more

I am feeling alternately elated and unsure. Am I crazy (please do not chorus YES!!)? Who am I fooling, this is the most ridiculous idea ever segues seamlessly into wow aren't I fantastic going on this big adventure and living large... The truth is that like almost all my decisions this was spur of the moment, reactionary, badly thought through etc etc etc but as I am too proud to admit error I chug along putting out the fires I started myself. And so i am commited to this trip by dint of my big mouth...Secret tip about big mouths...They act as goal setters... 6 more days to blast off and not only Houston is having a problem...How can I possibly get everything done...short answer: I won't. Can I live with that? Short answer: What's the ... read more

What do you do when you have a 4.5 hr lay over in Korea on your way home??? Easy, finish writing your travel blog! Day 72 to 74 (07/09 to 09/09) I am still in the north is Spain and the next stop was Bilbao. The main attraction in Bilbao is the Guggenheim museum. The museum is a huge metal structure along the river in Bilbao, very hard to miss. As you walk towards the entrance you are greeted by a ginormous dog made out of flowers, it's about 10m high. The main exhibitions in the museum were landscape paintings by British artist David Hockney and gigantic steel sculptures by American artist Richard Serra. These sculptures were curved into waved lines and circles which you could walk through, but they kind of freaked me out, all ... read more

Our first two weeks has comprised of Southern England exploration as our MH has been inspected and serviced. Using a small car enabled us to tour the REALLY narrow roads in Devon, Cornwall and the Dartmoor National Park areas. Several National Trust sites in that area also would not have allowed our MH entry. The Dartmoor moors were captivating. The beauty during periods of bright sunshine was such an opposite to the brooding and bleak appearance under cloud cover. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote the Hounds of Baskerville while staying in the moors and the film WAR HORSE was filmed there. A likely surround for the huge Dartmoor Prison, that was also described by Doyle in some of his writings. The total freedom of the wild ponies, flocks of sheep and herds of cattle keep the ... read more

My head twitch to the left simultaneously as my right arm flung in front of my face. I had little control of my body. A faint moan escaped my lips. I heard laughter; it was so loud and had been going on for quite some time. My stomach was cramping and my face was tight. Whilst looking for the culprit the laughter ceased, I looked back toward my sister and her amused face… was that me? Was I laughing? Yes. Her face was so pretty, so smooth. I had to touch her skin. I grasped at her arm feeding off her warmth and touched my cheek to hers. You’re so pretty Rubbing my face against her I felt pure ecstasy, warmth and love. I closed my eyes to ... read more
