I woke up in the morning from Theresa shoving me in the arm. After her long sleep on the plane she was restless and had to talk to someone. Unlike me she had refused to bring a book to read on the plane. I wasn't a happy camper that was for sure. I can tell you now waking me up in the morning is like waking up the devil. After talking to Theresa for 3 hours, it was time for us to get off the plane. I was exhausted and I really didn't want to go through custom's and have some guy with an accent give me dirty looks. Thankfully it was a breeze and my transfer service arrived on time. What wasn't a breeze was the fact that the woman in our taxi had no ... read more

I have always really wanted to go to the Netherlands only I have never ever been on a 2 day plane trip and I really didn't want to start now. Thankfully going with my best friend Theresa might have made it better. It was an 18 hour flight, including one stop over to Malaysia but I still wasn't very happy about that. I thanked my lucky stars though that I was leaving at 11:55PM and not 11:55AM. At least now I didn't have to have a restless night on the plane...yet. My day had a pleasurable beginning. My taxi came on time to pick me up from my house with Theresa already in the car. Unfortunately my driver was the world's slowest driver and it took him 50 minutes to drive to the airport! I am ... read more

I made a very quick visit to Asmterdam during the five hours transfer between two flights (Warsaw --> Amsteradm, Amsterdam --> Gouangzhou). My first time in Netherlands, by the way. I wandered around the airport - yes it's very big, you could organize running competitions there ;) I saw a very nice lounge stylised as jungle - green colours, real jungle plants, trees, sounds of nature (from speakers though) and deck chairs. I also made a visit to the city centre, so I could have a little stroll along beautiful streets. Lots of bicycles (mostly simple cheap city bikes), a kind of city ships (free) functioning as a bridge, bicycle pathways everywhere (perfect if you want to get somewhere on foot very fast and the pavements are crowded ;-) ...... read more

Wednesday/Thursday 9/10th May 2012 The time has finally come, we're off on our next adventure. Because of all the things going on in our life recently, what with a wedding, Rags' medical condition, and Judy's university tutoring position, we aren't as excited as we normally are. This we're sure will change as we get further into it. The day started with a bit of luxury, our friend Cal taking us to the airport in his new BMW, from where we flew the 8 hours to Hong Kong. Qantas looked after us well on this leg, with good food and service. After a 5 hour break we boarded the huge Cathay Pacific 747-400, for the 12 hour flight to Amsterdam. This was uneventful but the food or service wasn't a scratch on our previous flight. A bit ... read more

I've spent the last two days in the capital of the Netherlands and I must say, the city is gorgeous! Getting here was a bit stressful as for a brief moment, I thought I was going to miss another travel reservation! Russell drove me to the airport and we left quite early, giving ourselves good amount of time to get to Heathrow. On our way, we came across an accident and had to take a detour on a road he had never took. Additionally, I didn't know my terminal, so we went to the wrong one, and had to drive to another terminal. Luckily, I made it in time with 30 minutes to spare :) Once arrived, it was pretty darn good. We landed early and I took the train from the airport to Amsterdam Central ... read more

By the time I woke up it was in the morning I didn't know what time I was still on Netherlands time. I knew the plane was landing soon though because of the announcment that woke me up. There wasn't much to do I was to restless to get anything out of my bag. Theresa was on her phone playing some game. I got up to go to the toilet. When I got back Theresa was still on her phone but since we were landing I told her to turn it off unless she wanted the plane to crash. She, without even thinking turned the phone off. She was afraid of flights and heights. The plane reached Malaysia very soon and we got of the plane without any hassle. Theresa and I then got hashbrowns but ... read more

Hello from Amsterdam, Netherlands! After a 9 hour overnight flight I have completed the first leg of my journey to Cape Town, South Africa. We left Atlanta at 5:30 pm and lost 6 hrs in flight so its now 8:30 on Sunday morning. First Class is definitely the way to go, although I don't suggest watching Hangover 2 while seated next to a stranger as random bursts of laughter are disturbing. Next flight is 11 hrs which will be a test of my will and my seat mate as I hope to watch Horrible Bosses and Season 3 of Parks and Recreation so more bahahahaha moments are eminent. Joined the rest of the North American team that flew in from San Fran and Montreal. So blessed to work for such a class organization! Miss my Shelly, ... read more

Goedemorgen, Hoe maakt u het? (Dutch - Good Morning, how are you?) We have arrived in Amsterdam to start our quick visit of Holland for one week. We have rented a gorgeous apartment privately which is handily located 800m from central station but tucked away from the main thoroughfares. Also it is located on the fringe of the red light district so plenty to see if you know what I mean. www.nieuwmarktsuite.nl We arrived at apartment at 10.30pm after our flight and quick train trip from airport so we just crashed for the night. Day 1 (Fri 16 Sept) was beautiful and sunny** (we love that) so we hit the canals for couple of hours in what amounted to nearly our private tour as we opted for an ‘Eco’ completely open air boats so not ... read more
