This weekend Bonnie, Corinna and I decided to take a spontaneous trip to Dingle. (Yep, that's right, Dingle). Pretty much we decided to visit based on the name, and it ended up being an amazing trip! We left Saturday morning to catch the bus that would take us to Dingle. Although the trip was almost 4 hours, it went by quickly because the scenery was beautiful: lots of green and sheep. (It was a good bus experience, despite often feeling like the bus was about to tip over the edge of the very narrow roads we were driving down). Once we got into Dingle, we checked into The Rainbow Hostel, which was actually really nice. (I was prepared for a sketchy experience). It was very warm and friendly, there was a huge kitchen, the beds were ... read more

Hi Everyone! Well welcome to our first blog! We have just arrived in London.....phew. We are currently living with JK & Rach (just for 3 weeks, as they are leaving for Australia!) until we get settled in.....but we are leaving agin - for our first trip! We thought we would take the opportunity to explore some of Southern Ireland with Justin and Rach as none of us had been. Friday 23rd Feb 2007 We decided to avoid the cities and opted for more scenic and rural areas of Ireland. We flew into Shannon at 11pm which is a smaller town located towards the south-west corner of the country. After collecting our hire car we headed to our hotel to rest up before 3 days of hard-core exploration! Saturday 24th Feb 2007 We decided to have breakfast ... read more

Hello All, Well just when you thought it was safe we have found time to fit in one last little trip before departing London. As we have the pleasure of Stacy and Erin's company (who are 'fresh off the boat'!) we thought we would take the opportunity to explore some of Southern Ireland together as neither of us had been. This is a bit later than I would usually have my post, but I've been absolutely crazy busy the last week or so, and the next week will definitely be just as busy, if not busier. I just got back on Sunday from a Long weekend with the school. We went to Ireland. I used to have no desire to go to Ireland, because I figured it was green. so what? But, now I had absolutely no desire to leave the green island. Its beyond words how beautiful this place was. Day 1: Wednesday - We had a huge British Studies Exam that was three questions long and took two hours to take. yeah, not the most fun thing I've ever done. So needless to say, the entire school was ready for our long weekend and ... read more

Well maybe it’s time to oil my log’s engine and give an idea of where the hell I am, and I just don’t mean the location. First off, I am still in at my Camphill Community in Dingle, Ireland doing our usual things working with the special needs which is going smoothly(even if I had my hair assaulted at length this morning). The past month has been like every month full of twists and turns, though it was considered to be mainly holidays. Mr. Quinn Shanahan from Fairfield dropped by to visit me around Christmas who stayed at a friend of mine’s home for a few days and participated in the local events. We had our Camphill Christmas play on the 23rd where I played the part of a Jew in Bethlehem(one day!) named Joseph who ... read more

Well it's been a while since I got around to here. I didn't really want to post until I had a few photos to prop up and smile at, but no matter. Where am I? In a tiny house filled village called Beenbawn outside the main tourist town of Dingle. What am I doing? Assimilating myself into a group of 12 people(5 coworkers, 7....intellectually challenged villagers) who are attempting to establish an organic farm, while involving and helping the villagers. Am I enjoying it? I don't know or understand quite yet. Unfortunately this little place isn't running as smoothly as I may make it out to be, if I did at all. Many problems have arose (one of the villagers moved(was sent) in a month ago, because he beat up all the others at his last ... read more

We awoke to overcast skies and rain this morning so we decided to stay home and relax. Our suitcases are almost packed and we'll be leaving for the Shannon airport very early in the morning. We did some last minute shopping in Killarney today and burned the proverbial plastic. This will be our final blog for this vacation but stay tuned for upcoming adventures. You know we hate to stay put for very long. Perhaps it will be Fiji with Corri in the spring or Greece with my family in the fall, who knows?? Thanks for reading along! Please email if you have any questions.... read more

I have decided that too much vacation can be a bad thing. I have grown weary of traveling all over to see things. The only things that we had still wanted to see are the pricier items and I can’t justify it yet. The Aran Islands require a ferry passage to reach them and the Bunratty Castle and Folk Park offers the medieval dinner and musical entertainment but that alone runs about €60 for each of us. So we are keeping closer to home and trying to not spend much. Today we went off in search of two more geocaches in the area. It is the one thing I appreciate about the hobby above all else. The two areas that we went to today were not anywhere that I would have ventured to otherwise. Both geocaches ... read more

Up and out of bed around 10am for another relaxing day. I didn’t get much sleep last night thinking about Kara being in labor and having my first nephew without me. We don’t get any cell phone coverage here at the house so there is no way of checking in on them. We headed to Killarney this morning with plans to see the Ross Castle and hit a couple geocaches. I called Autum as soon as I got cell service. Kara had baby Justin had 1:30pm yesterday and he was 18.5 inches long and 5.8 lbs. On our way to the internet café, I stopped in an auto parts store and ordered a personalized license plate that models the Ireland plates and it says “Justin-06” to mark the occasion and his aunt being far away. We stayed up pretty late last night watching television. Since Ireland falls within the European Union, most of the shows come from England and Scotland. We watched their version of “American Idol” except it’s called “The X Factor” and the rules are a little different. We watched a couple movies while the laundry was finishing up and then we went to sleep around 2am or so. This morning we slept in late and just sat around the house and relaxed. Last night at the grocery store, we picked up some pastry wrapped sausage bites and Robert made them for breakfast. Their food doesn’t come precooked, it is made from scratch and then you bake it up nice and hot. I ate one of my yogurts, the Valentia Orange Cream, and it was delicious. They make their ... read more
