Geo: 52.1433, -10.2687Today was Dingle day. We had an awesome breakfast at our b&b. Tom came over after breakfast at his hostel and finished our breakfast. he had a "private" room with 3 other strangers and one bathroom. At least he got the top bunk. he had one stinky Australian and2 other guys. tonight he has a couple of girls in his room. only 17 euro. Not our kinda thing. by the time Tom, Dee and I got back to our b&b last night, we were locked out. dot had gone back earlier and taken our only key. we tried to throw pebbles at her window (that is harder than it looks, even with boy scout Tom) but nobody came to the window. turned out to be the wrong window. We finally gave in and rang ... read more

June 11 – Over the Conner Pass and back to Ballinasloe – Today I took the scenic route back to Ballinasloe via The Conner Pass, the ferry from Tarbert to Killimer, and Killrush, Killkee, Doonbeg, Spanish Point, Lahinch , Hag’s Head, the Cliffs of Moher, and the Burren. It was quite a days drive and very scenic. I was disappointed a bit in The Cliffs of Moher though as they have now set up stone barricades to keep people away from the edges, but it also keeps you from being able to appreciate just how high they are as you can only see the bottom of them in the distance. It appears to be all about money now as all parking is blocked now except the 6 Euro (per Person !!) parking lot where you MUST ... read more

Sunday June 10 Slea Head and sites of Ryans Daughter filming Today I drove out west as far as you can go in Ireland without a boat. I explored a Stone Age fort built in 500BC and some more of the locations where Ryan’s Daughter was filmed. The weather was rainy at first but in the afternoon cleared off a bit but never got quite sunny. It was a very good day and I kind of reached my saturation point on scenic beauty for a bit. So many beautiful vistas. Tomorrow I will head back to Ballinasloe for a few days.... read more

June 9 Saturday Killarney to Dingle Today I checked out of the hostel in Killarney and took a circuitous route to Dingle. At inch I stopped and checked out the beach that was used in some of the scenes of Ryan’s Daughter and Playboy of the Western World. The weather was once again picture perfect. I stopped in Inch where some scenes from Ryan’s Daughter and Playboy of the Western World were filmed and then eased over to Dingle where I explored the town a bit and checked in to the Hidout Hostel on Dykegate Street. After putting a few things in the room I went back out and explored the town a bit more and then came back to the hostel again to catch up on my computer work a bit. There is a movie ... read more

I'm not a big fan of birthdays and turning 40? Please. Let's just try to forget about it. Jeff reminded me about how we plotted to help my mom celebrate 40 - by telling her we were going to take her somewhere special, blindfold her and drive her to an old folks home. Children are precious. So anyway, yes, let's just forget about 40...Oh, wait, except when it comes to making an excuse once again to get the heck off of the continent, then it becomes this beast of coersion to bully my brother and husband into spending MY BIG BIRTHDAY somewhere cool, somewhere where vomit and rain and wind will make it all memorable. The dart thrown at the map landed on Dingle. Why not? The claim was that they actually DID something for New ... read more
