I did it! I finally convinced Chris to eat a Gyro yesterday. The crazy part, we had another today. It's quite weird, they put fries in the gyros. Not many but about 5-7, just enough where you are like "Wow, is that fries in with my gyro...?" Bonus snack! So to recap recent events: Went out partying last night in the main port town of Paraikia and actually got stranded after the bars closed. We were 12km from our hotel and there were literally no taxi's were around. We had 2 options... Get another hotel for the night in Pariakia and head back in the morning to our town, or go eat snacks in the local deli/snack shop and be depressed at our situation. We settled on option 2. Over a cheese sandwich, the deli guy's ... read more

The plan didn’t differ much today - have something to eat, then catch a bus to another beach - this time, a black beach. We managed to get on the right bus out to Perissa, but didn’t end up staying out there for long. The water was once again, pretty cold, which is strange considering the temperature of the sand/rock. I think the problem is that our beaches back home are shallow, so the water heats up, whereas here, the beach just drops away under you, and gets quite deep. There were dogs lying on the beach beds (Santorini seems to have so many stray dogs and cats) and it wasn’t the best place, so after a quick walk along the black sand, we made our way back up to catch the next bus back - ... read more

Hi There, Sorry we've been MIA for the past few days, but our room in Paros isn't as internet friendly as in Mykonos. Well, since we've been gone, we departed Mykonos after one last delicious dinner at Lotus Lounge and a farewell Nutella crepe (Yum!). We were definitely not ready to leave, but we decided that it was important to see more than just two Greek islands. So far Paros is much more traditional and less "touristy" than we were used to. However, that didn't stop us from getting pizza and some lemoncello shots last night at dinner. (We have to keep it real). After dinner we found a cute lounge where we danced with some German tourists to 70s music. Somehow, Kevin wound up playing the tambourine and it was at that point that I ... read more

We woke fairly early today, and with breakie looking like it would be a bit of a wait, we decided to take a quick walk around the other side of our hotel. The island is fairly big, with over 12 000 residents in the summer months, and a third less during the colder season. We walked past old churches, other hotels and of course the amazing view. A few donkey trains were headed the other way, so after stepping aside, it was back to the hotel for our breakie. For five Euro, it was a pretty good spread - fresh bread and coffee, plus Greek yoghurt and cheese - YUM. Plus, we had the added bonus of looking out onto the Caldera. After breakie, it was time to hit one of the many beaches, and Iz ... read more

Well, now back to the purpose of this trip... to taste as many local beers throughout Europe as is possible in a 3 month trek ;) Ios, this is by far my favorite island of the 3 greek islands that we visited. With a much younger crowd, cheaper in everyway, beautiful soft beaches, an awesome hostel/resort and late night parties, you can't go wrong with Ios. We checked into a small 2 bed camping shelter at an awesome resort area called Far Out. Here we went swimming in the sea and pools, layed in the sun, went banana boating, drove a quad all over the island, visited Homer's tomb (some ancient philospher guy) and yes, nurtured many hangovers. The clubs had many specials on as the season was over and they were just getting rid of ... read more

Tired of our days of rest in Santorini, we voyaged to the backpacking / party isle of Ios. Where, true to its description, we partied and backpacked. Allow me to lead you through our days: wake up at 1pm. get frustrated that the captain remains asleep burn self at pool eat spaghetti take a nap go up in flames and make way to rehab dance and sing and drink repeat Drink of choice? Flaming Lamborghinis...approximately 4 or 5 a night, we reckon. Flames and Rehab remind me of Carrot Top the comedian. While not human, nor prop comics, the bars really seemed to focus on props in order to excite their patrons: Throwing napkins foam spraying from the ceiling at the climax of the umbrella song flourescent paint sporadicly lighting the bar on fire hiding vampigs ... read more

I had unsuccessfully tried to get through to Olympic Airlines from our hotel to see if we could switch to an earlier flight out…so it was an early rise to check out the flight situation. We were unable to change the flights over the phone though, and the lady suggested going out to the airport as soon as we could to see what they could do…she was fairly certain our flights could be changed from there. Thankfully, it was only 8am, so by 9am we were on the train to the airport. After switching trains at the last suburban stop, a ticketing officer asked for our tickets. We dutifully handed over the tickets we had purchased the previous day, which lasted a whole 24 hours, only to find out you had to buy SEPARATE tickets to ... read more

Ok boys and gals, it been wild over here. Sad to report this is our last night on Mykonos. It's been awesome but we are happy to "change it up," and visit Paros, which is where they say I'll get more of the true Greek experience. Last night we headed into "town," being there is only one main town, and went to a fish restaurant called Koulenas. It was recommended by my pals on Trip Advisor and boy were they right! You literally select your fish, and bang it's tossed on an outdoor grill. Chris and myself split one large Seabass, four large shrimp, and some calamari. The server claimed they were all caught today, and I truly believed it. I will say it really was the freshest fish I have ever consumed. We also tore ... read more

Michelle and I are in Ios, Greece and we might not leave. We stayed in Athens for a couple of days (Athens kinda sucks) then we came to Ios to meet up with my friend Jeannine. Ios is a small party island with beautiful beaches. Most of the "locals" are people from all over the world that come to live and work here for a season. We met an Australian girl named Tamara and she may be our soul mate. We have also been hanging out with some Aussies and some "locals" that work at our hostel. Our room is cheap and there is a pretty amazing view. I hope all is well in the US! Kisses, tati... read more
