Hi guys hope you are all well. I have just come back from an amazing ski resort to let you guys know about. I wasnted to try skiing so Googled ski holiday french Alps and I had a fantastic fun filled weekend out at Val Thorens one of the premier french ski areas for a short break and managed to come back without any broken bones or other injuries! I learned a lot on this trip as a first time skier, and apart from the fact I need more practice, I leared a lot about making sure you have the right gear to hit the slopes with. I put a lot of time and effort into preparing for the trip but still ended up being without some of the skiing gear I needed when I got ... read more

I decided i was ready to spend the day with Sarah today and push myself cos its the only way to get al confidence back. So we headed up the top and did red runs all day – one harder than blue! It was so much fun! I struggled on the really steep bits but got her to board infront of me do her “moves” and I followed behind in suite, which made me actually do it even though I was scared in parts! It was really fun and i surprised myself hoe quickly I felt comfortable boarding on my left leg after doing so long on my right! But I guess it is my natural leg so should be easier. But is great now cos I can ride switch (both ways) which is a huge ... read more

I awoke after a pitiful maybe 3 hours sleep max to Sarah climbing on me going Rach Rach Rach wake up its christmassssss!!! Haha so even though I wasn’t home it did feel a lil bit like xmas morning! I hopped up in my onesie, we put our flashing santa hats on and went out onto our balcony which had the chair lift going over our villa and skiers and snowboarders in our backyard. The su was coming up over the mountains and it was a totally picture perfect day!! So much snow had fallen and it was just sensational! We couldn’t believe our eyes! 1/1/11...What a cool, cool date to write. Not only is it cool for that fact and the first day of the year, but also because today was Mykenzie’s 3rd birthday. She started great by letting us have a sleep in, which was very welcome and after breakfast it was an easy transition into ski school. The previously days hadn’t gone very well with lots of tears. But today was different. She walked straight in without a backwards glance. It may have had something to do with the fact that she had a beautiful birthday dress (loaned to us by Kate) on over the top of her ski outfit and she thought she looked wonderful, like a fairy in fact. I’m not an expert but I don’t think there would be a lot of kids going into ... read more

We went to St Martin de Belleville (Not Val Thorens - I just couldn't find the correct location from the drop-down list) from Boxing Day for a few weeks. It's a wee village in the Three Valleys in France. The snow was a bit mixed for the first week then we spent two weeks in ski school and the snow and weather were better those two weeks as well. We had a great time in our wee chalet - self catered apartment for two! We cooked more on the holiday than we do at home but it meant we could eat when we wanted, what we wanted and had our own TV, music and books to chill out with as well. We were right in front of the Gondola and Scott get ducking out to see ... read more

Well this is my first blog for the new year and hopefully I will keep them regular and current when something happens. 20 Dec 08 to 3 Jan 08 Flew from Gatwick to Grenoble, France. Note Gatwick is absoulte chaos and I am convinced that a 14 yr old came up with the chaotic logistics plan they saw the line snake around on it self and saw us waiting for 2 hrs before being called out of the line rushed to the shambles of the flight desk. After packing our own luggage in the crates, we bascially ran all the way to the flight, which left only 2 hrs late. After a 4 hr bus ride to Val Thorens we finally arrive at 4 pm. To the lovely club med experiance. ... read more

Val Thorens is part of a resort area called “Les Trois Vallees” which literally translates from French as the three valleys. Each of the three valleys has a town with a ski resort. Together they make up “Les Trois Vallees”. Ross, Dan, Mike and myself went to Val Thorens which is the highest resort in Europe at 2300 meters above sea level for our spring break. The bus ride was long but we met some Dutchies who kept us entertained, especially Ross and Mike. For the 10 day period, the weather could not have been any better. Upon arrival, we were graced with a beautiful blue sky. We took advantage as we sat outside and relaxed for a little. In the early evening the snow started and didn’t really stop for a week. Every morning we ... read more

I love the sun. I love skiing. I love beer. Combine the three, and you’ll soon find yourself sitting in a chair in the French Alps in the ski slope with a beer in your hand, roasting in the sun. Skiing is great; in fact skiing in “Trois Vallees” is pretty much as good as it gets in Europe. But the feet hurt like hell from the rental boots. And the beer is German white beer in proper large glasses. Besides, being the first day of skiing we can afford to chill for a bit. Before we know it we’ve spent a few hours sitting still in the beautiful weather, but brutally exposed to the sun. “Why didn’t you use sunblock?” the wise might ask. “Because I usually don’t need it”, would be my reply. But ... read more
