Hey everyone! Wow! it's already October and I've officially been in Finland for over two months. Isn't that crazy?! It's been about a week since I last updated and I want to be sure to update before I leave for Germany and Poland. So, what's been going on? Well, on Monday I woke up at 7:00 and it was pitch black outside. I thought, "It can't really be 7:00, it's not usually this dark." It really was 7:00, though, and it really is getting dark here. However, we have daylight savings time in a few weeks, so that will make it a bit better. During the day I went to the bank and got some Polish money, zlotys, for my trip this week. I got 100 zlotys for about € 30. I always like exchanging money. ... read more

So, I decided I need to write another entry before I go to Espoo/Helsinki/Vantaa this weekend. Sorry the entries have been a little more spaced out lately. I guess I've just been a bit too busy to be writing all the time. Anyway, where did I leave off? So, last Saturday, the 15th I didn't really do anything. The next week was test week so all my friends were busy studying for their tests. And all my friends who weren't studying for their tests were hanging out with their boyfriends so...I pretty much just sat around the house all day. Oh well, some days it just goes like that. Sunday was slightly more interesting. I worked on my presentation that I had to give to my Rotary club on Tuesday. It was all in Finnish so ... read more

Sorry I haven't written in awhile. I guess I've just been busy. Anyway, so where to start? I believe I last left you on the 1st, so, on Sunday the 2nd I went to my friend Emilia's soccer game. It was in Sundom, the small part of Vaasa where I live, so I was able to ride my bike there. In America 40 degrees and rainy would be car weather, but in Finland it is bike-riding weather. The game was good, but I was freezing my butt off the entire time. After the game I called my friends Mira and Sandra to see if they wanted to hang out. They were like sure, how about we go for a walk. Again, I'm thinking, cold and rainy, not exactly walking weather. It must be a Finnish thing. ... read more

I can't believe it's been a whole week since I last updated. Time has been flying. It seems like I've barely rolled out of bed on Monday morning and the next thing I know it's Friday afternoon. I can't believe I've almost been in Finland a month. That's right, a whole month! It will be official on Wednesday. Anyway, I have lots of interesting stuff to tell you all so I better get down to it! I believe I last left you on Thursday eagerly anticipating my Japanese class the next day. So, on Friday I went to my first Japanese class. Well, let me explain to you first about the school I'm taking the class at. It's a Folkhögskola, which means it's a school for anyone who wants to go. Some people might go there ... read more

So, it seems like it has been forever since I last wrote an entry. Quite a bit has happened. On Saturday Jani, my host brother, and I went to Power Park, which is an amusement park in Alahämä. Well, I say it's an amusement park, but it's not really like the ones in America. It was very small and it only had 2 real roller coasters. The rest were just like fair rides. So, we spent a few hours there and rode everything about 3 times. It was pretty fun. After that I went to my first official Finnish party. It was alot of fun. It was my friend Ia's birthday. Her party was pink themed, meaning everyone had to wear something pink. Obviously I own nothing pink so I had bought a pink shirt from ... read more

Hi everyone. Thought I would take some time out of my travelling (as the temperature outside is scorching... it was 34 degrees C in the van this morning at 8.00am!) and write you all an update. Hopefully I can get some photos uploaded also. From Tromso I headed further North on the way to Nordkapp. The first stop was Hammerfest where the van required a little bit more TLC. After picking up my new water temperature sensor I noticed that the front wheels were virtually bear! It looked like the tracking was out. After taking it to a new tire stockist and replacing the 2 front tyres (another 180 quid!) they recommended a visit back to the VW garage for re-alignment. Oooops... they inspected the front alignment and showed me a calapsed joint on the ... read more

Täältä kuitenki pystytte seuraan meikäläisen trippiä!... read more

... read more
