Kari W Kari Wiggen Post Count: 2 Msg: #1 1046 days ago, January 13th 2007 | I am wanting to take a trip back to Finland in the next 3 months. The trip will probably be about 4 days, I will be based at Rovaniemi, but I would very much like to go to Oulu. Can you recomend the cheapest way to travel (from UK) and what I should see and do in Oulu? I was planning to fly into Helsinki and go straight to the North. I was wondering what the most practical way to get there is, in your experience. I have not been to Oulu before, so what should a 'first timer' do there? And also, what did I miss in Rovaniemi the last time I was there? Things outside the town itself (apart from the obvious!) or hidden gems. | Carrizo Matti V Post Count: 1 Msg: #2 169 days ago, June 9th 2009 | One very special place is calles Kemi. That is a small town and during winter there is world's biggest Snow Castle. Also one can take a short tour onboard of icebraker Sampo. | walksntalks Roy Arnold Post Count: 28 Msg: #3 160 days ago, June 18th 2009 | I recommend you to take the night train from Helsinki. Flying is the option (faster, but more expensive). | The trains are leaving from Helsinki 7.26 PM and you will reach Rovaniemi at 7.53 AM. Also, it is easiest to take a train from Rovaniemi to Oulu and again the night train from Oulu to Helsinki.
