Does railways operate smoothly in snowfall?
14 years ago, May 22nd 2009 No: 1 Msg: #73635
Hi all

We are planning to travel to Finland in the month of September/October. We would be traveling from Helsinki to Rovaniemi via railways.

Does anyone know if the railways operate smoothly during snowfall (please consider the months when we would be traveling) in Finland? Are there any chances that the trains may get cancel due to snowfall?

Please suggest!

The trains are sometimes delayed 10 of 15 minutes, but not because of snowfall. The railway system is very reliable in Finland and snowfall in winter is routine. In September/October we are expecting the first snow, the proper winter time starts in November in Lapland.
You can expect to see any snow starting from Rovaniemi and upwards to the north.
So, do not worry:-)
