This was my second ski trip and I can say that I was much more successful then last time. We flew to Reus in Spain where we meet our friends Candice and Javier and then we drove to Andorra to spend Easter together. The journey took +/- 2:30hs. We stayed in their house in Canillo. The nice thing about skiing in Andorra is that it appeals to all levels from beginners to advanced. The scenery is also beautiful. We didn’t have the opportunity to dine anywhere as we mostly stayed at home, so can’t recommend any restaurants. However I can recommend that you pay a visit to one of the various charcuteries/wine places along the road, where you will be able to taste a bit of everything they sell. Shopping is particularly good in Andorra, as ... read more

Another trip to Pas de la Casa to practice my skiing. Much better conditions this year with 1m snow on the slopes. Chatted to a group on the bus journey who took pity on me and invited me to ski with them for the week. Also blagged my way into the intermediate group lessons and was bricking it when they started mentioning black runs and jumps! All I could keep thinking was that I've just handed in my notice at work and I have a medical next week for my new job - I can't afford to break anything!!!! Nevertheless onwards and up the six-man chair lift to the top, passing several boarding being stretched off the mountain! By the end of the week I had mastered the blacks and was airborne a few times without ... read more

Snowboarding :D Not a place for people who are any good at this, it was perfect for us as we’re still beginners and the slopes are fairly easy so you can start to play around and get your confidence up so you can show off a bit. We were definitely glad we had a car so we could travel between the 3 different mountains. We were only there for a long weekend and we managed to cover the lot. We didn’t have great snow but we had 2 sunny days and it only got overcast on the last day - we nearly got lost going home but managed to find out way by sheer luck!... read more

Our experience in Spain up to this point had been wonderful and we had been on some great trips both in the country and outside of it, but there was one great North American tradition that we were beginning to miss - the road trip. So we paired up with experienced roadtrippers Nadine and Aaron, rented a car, and set our sights on the snow capped peaks of Andorra. If you aren’t familiar with the country of Andorra (as I wasn’t prior to the planning of this trip), it is a tiny country stuffed between France and Spain, atop the Pyrenees, full of amazing skiing and duty free shops where bottles of absinthe cost no more than 5 euros. It is possible to cross the entire country in hour. The trip up was very enjoyable. Nadine ... read more

My first weekend in Barcelona, I went with a group of 25 other people from my program to Andorra, a tiny country between Spain and France that is known for its cheap prices (because there are no taxes) and good skiing. One of the guys in our group set up the whole trip through his señora, who is a travel agent, which was awesome because no one else had to do anything. And we got a great deal, transportation, 2 nights in a 3-star hotel, lift tickets, boots and boards, and breakfast and dinner for 2 days for only 130 Euro! We left Friday night by bus, which was about a 3 hour drive to Andorra. Saturday morning we woke up at 7am and headed to the slopes shortly after. The resort was a lot bigger ... read more

My first weekend here, and I was off to Andorra! I was having snowboarding withdrawls already because I just couldn´t turn down the offer even though I hadn´t even settled in yet. I´m very glad I went though, it was beautiful in Andorra and so much fun to get on a board again! There are many old medieval castles to look at in town and the Pryenees are beautiful (thought I still don´t think nearly as great as the Rockies, but I´m probably just being bias!) We went on a greyhound type bus with about 20 american students and 20 local spaniards - we picked up a few on the way too. It was a blast of a ride there...so many people to talk to and practice my spanish with! My favorite part about it was ... read more

After a whirlwind few days back in Cardiff where we unpacked, washed, and packed again, we were off on another trip. This time our destination was Andorra, a tiny country in the Pyrenees mountains famous for skiing and tax-free shopping. To get there we were up in the middle of the night, drove with Jason and Kirstyn to Bristol airport for our flight to Toulouse in France before getting on a coach for the 3-4 hour journey to our resort, Arinsal. We sorted out our equipment and had the obligatory meeting with our holiday rep to get our ski passes before a pretty early night. We were rearing to go early the next morning and after a sturdy breakfast headed up on the gondola to the ski slopes. Kirstyn gave Jason some instruction on snowboarding while ... read more

After a few days reorganising our lives again in Wales we headed off to Bristol in the wee hours for our early morning departure to Toulouse. From here we took a four hour bus drive up into the Pyrenees to the tiny country of Andorra...known pretty much soley for its snow resorts and tax free shopping. The country only covers and area of around 480 square kilometres with a population of 82,000 and interestingly the highest life expectancy in the world (83.52 years...thanks Wikipedia)!! Very very interesting given the fact that just about the entire population seems to enjoy a cigarette or two (maybe that was just the tourists taking advantage of the low prices??). Not too much to say really....had a fantastic week snowboarding. Jas starting from scratch and Kirst reliving her youthful times on ... read more

We left early Monday morning for what should have been a 6 hour journey to Andorra’s capital, Andorra la Vella. As it turns out, online directions in Europe are just as crap as they are in America & we ended up relying on my map reading skills to get us there. Needless to say, we made some wrong turns and added a couple of hours onto our trip...The drive was lovely though. Andorra reminded me of Switzerland in that the entire trip was spent winding around snow covered mountains. We arrived in Andorra, found our hotel and grabbed some food. We were both exhausted from the long day in the car so we just wandered the streets for a bit and then headed back for a good night’s sleep. Most shops were closed, so we spent ... read more

I LOVE THIS CITY!!!! just by first sight...I remember Sevilla was beautiful and I loved it..I did think Northern Spain wouldnt be as nice but NO!!!!!
