blogger Dougo Today was the big game of the group, Australia vs South Africa. Having splurged for this match and bought Category 1 tickets for USD$90 each we were hoping for A) A good game B) Some shade. We got both. We were in the last row of a shaded stand which meant we had possibly the best view in the whole stand. After being a little concerned about the narrow pilons blocking a tiny bit of our view, we soon realised what a god send the seating position was. We had shade from the 35 degree sun and we a had a gorgeous breeze that cooled us down. The game was awesome. Everyone was hoping for a batting fest and the Aussies didn't disappoint. 377 runs were scored by Australia and South Africa were ... read more

Friday was a another day of relaxation and enjoying our last day on our wonderful resort. Pels and Jacko were awoken by the room phone going off at 7.45am with the local TV Station wanting to interview Pels about him refereeing on the Island and to also discuss with them what other things we had got upto on our trip.We agreed a time of later on in the day as we wanted to say farewell to two of our group who left today. GP and Jacko headed off to the Airport and all the boys were there to say goodbye. The two Gordon's were leaving 24 hours before the other six so they could get back to the UK as they both had commitments over the weekend. We spent most of Friday lounging about the pool ... read more

After stopping by the local Chinese restaurant to pick up dinner and buying several tomatoes from a vendor by the bus stop, I jump on one of the buses, pay the busman, and settle into a seat. You should understand the buses are not really buses at all, but full size vans painted brightly, constantly blaring the same overplayed song that has been popular for the last two months. I take a seat by the sliding door. Soon afterwards, I greet Ethel (who I have sat next to on the bus several times before) and help her to her seat beside me. Then I help her make the correct change for the bus ride and hand it forward to the driver. After listening to the same song play all the way through once and begin ... read more

What a fabulous day! We spent the day with a wonderful Scottish/South African/Canadian family out at a lovely beach kayaking, hobie catting and ray spotting! It was an exciting departure from our cheap skate, do nothing all day so we don't spend any money on no cricket days routine... Details and photos later today (we hope)... read more

We are in St. Kitts today. Brooks, Kristina and I went to the beach at the Marriott Hotel. It was beautiful. Brown sand, but really soft. Constant crashing waves. Sparkling blue water. High hills in the distance. We sunned. We napped. And I had good chats with both of them. About all of these crazy emotions that have been swirling around this last week. The day allowed for recuperation somehow. It was just calming. It was really what I needed. I feel less anxious now. Less vulnerable. Still these things, but much less so. We had some random fun of course. Kevin and Jason (the new art auctioneer) came by and then the five of us headed back to the ship together. On our way out of the hotel, we passed a big fountain with a ... read more

Today Wednesday was a total chill out day for us all. The boys started to appear from 9am which is quite a bit later than normal.Breakfast was good as well but there were no beans today! That did not go down too well I can tell you! We have made a special request to the chef but I think we had missing beans one day last week too! Most of the team headed for the beach to relax and enjoy the sunshine as the holiday comes to a close. Some went for lunch and some went back to the pool.We have met many wonderful and interesting people on our travels and certainly the most being around our pool. Some of the chat has been excellent. A few of the Ozzie TV crew have had some bizarre ... read more

An early start saw us at the Breakafast bar at around 7am. Our most popular taxi driver namely Sackville Grey arrived on schedule at 8am to whisk us off on our short journey to Warner Park. Once we were dropped off we had to go through some pretty rigourous security to gain entrance into the ground. They even asked some guys to put their suntan lotion on them to prove it wasn't something else! Most bought match programmes and some guys bought Official Merchandice from the ICC stand. We then headed to our vantage point which was the same place as we were for the Australia match nearly a week before. We dumped our rucksacks and watched both teams do their warm up routines. The bar opened at 9am ... read more
