Well I woke up this morning @5am to set out on my bus adventure back up to monteverde, I am in San Jose, go figure. I thought that there was a bus to monteverde from santa cruz. Not so much unless you want to get off at the most remote location in the world and the bus driver tell you that the next bus may or may not come..on top of that it is a very dangerous place for gringos..so I stayed on the bus 5hrs later I am back in the slums of san Jose. But I did book my bungee jumping for tomorrow..the old colorado bridge is where I am jumping. Highest jump in the americas. On the top 10 I believe for highest in the world. Our last few days at the Tropical Dojo were quite good fun. On Friday, after the morning meditation, yoga and animal feeding, Theo and Carol (a couple visiting one of Noe's neighbours, Bunny) drove us an hour up in to the hills to Noe's mountain retreat. He owns five hectares on a hill that borders a beautiful river. The house is very basic, but has everything you need. It made me feel like we were going bear hunting out in the wild (not that they have bears in Costa Rica... I think). We chilled there for a bit, the boys had a swim in the river while Carol and I talked about her fabric import business from India. She is a PIO, Person of Indian Origin, and learnt how to dye fabric from her grandfather. She ... read more

So meine lieben, mein Gott hab ich viel von der Karibik mitgenommen. Eine Magendarminfektion und Fieber. Grossartig. Aber keine Sorge, mittlerweile nach 20 Litern Reis-und Salzwasser, Gemuesesuppe und Brot, gehts mir wieder blendend;-). Das Wochenende war trotzdem super. Wir sind Donnerstag Nachmittag nach Cahuita gefahren. Schliesslich habe ich nur vier Tage Schule. Und nach 6Stunden Fahrt (es hat geregnet und deshalb mussten wir die laengere Strecke nehmen) sind wir endlich in dem bloeden kaff angekommen. Und Kaff trifft es nicht ganz. Kuhstall veilleicht eher. Cahuita ist eigentlich bekannt fuer die schoensten Straende an der karibischen Kueste und fuer einen wahnsinns Nationalpark. Davon haben wir nix gesehen, da es sofort nach unser Ankunft geschuettet hat wie aus Eimern. Hola, jetzt endlich habe ich wider Zeit gefunden zu schreiben. Schliesslich bin ich jezt zurueck von Manuel Antonio. Und ich hatte dort ne wahnsinns Zeit. Wir sind Freitag frueh, schliesslich habe ich nur bis Donnerstag Schule, mit dem Bus 4 Stunden an die Pacific Coast gefahren. Um 10Uhr vormittags waren wir endlich da und uns hat gleich zu beginn ein reiner weisser Sandstrand erwartet. Alles war mit Palmem umgeben und wir hatten schon um diese fruehe Stunde 34Grad im Schatten. Unsere Tica Lodge war gelich neben dem Nationalpark und 100Meter vom Beach entfernt. Wir haben 30Dollar pro Zimmer bezahlt. Pro Zimmer haben vier Leute drin geschlafen, also sehr preiswert. Sind gleich erstmal fruehstuecken gegangen. Und zwar in dem Hostel Costa Linda. Its hard to believe that this semester is coming to an end! We are now in San Jose after our closing activity at Rincon de la Vieja. All the work went well in La Selva, we all survived! At Rincon we climbed the volcano (almost got blown by wind off at the top), saw bioling mud pots, and swam in a beautiful swimming hole. It was a beautiful and relaxing time but I'm so tired! (16 km of hiking!) Now we are in San Jose and I'm getting that feeling I get right before I go through a big lifestyle change (ie to and from school). Its just you get so close to people over three months and to know that I have no garuntees of seeing anyone is just a little scary for me. Its ... read more

Buenos dias, So jetzt habe ich grad mein Busticket bezahlt fuer das Wochenende. Es geht mit insgesamt 8 Leuten nach Manuel Antonio. Wir wollten ja unbedingt zum Strand und das ist die kuerzeste Strecke bis dahin. Sind ja nur 3 einhalb stunden. Morgen gehts los ab 6Uhr in der Frueh, und Sonntag Abend komm ich zurueck. Also macht euch keine Sorgen, ich kann erst ab Montag wieder schreiben. Heute zum Fruehstueck gab es Papaya. Ich weiss nicht ob ich schon mal davor Papaya gegessen hab... Mama du weisst es am besten. Auf jeden Fall war es hervorragend. Und gestern habem meine Gastmutter und ich die groesste Ananas geschlachtet die ich je gesehen hab. Sie war in etwa so gross wie ein Medizinball. Und am Abend hat mir Roselle die beste Schokolade gemacht die ich je getrunken ... read more

So meine Lieben, man bin ich fertig von gestern. Ich hatte den ganzen Tag richtig Heimweh und deshalb wollte ich abends unbedingt was trinken. Zur Ablenkung. Hat super geklappt. Aber alles der Reihe nach. Da wir mit dem Bus alleine zur Schule muessen. Haben sie uns am Montag in der Schule erklaert, wie das am besten funktioniert. Die Lehrer meinten einfach, wir muessen nur winken, dann haeltder Bus schon. Okay, ganz einfach dacht ich. Gestern in der Frueh, habe ich also gewunken um dem Bus zu signalisieren das ich mitfahren moechte. Soweit so gut. Ich winke, und ..... der ganze Bus winkt zurueck, und faehrt vorbei! Okay, also doch nix mit winken. Etwas spaeter habe ich dann gemerkt, hier in Costa Rica winkt man anders. Man zeigt mit der Hand auf den Boden und winkt dann. ... read more

It's been nearly 3 weeks from when I'm writing this since we celebrated Yvonne's birthday in San Jose. A combination of no internet and my chronic laziness led to me not updating my blog for a while!! Alot happens in 3 weeks when you're constantly on the move like we are so remembering specifics of one city you stayed in a while back becomes fiendishly difficult. However, I will do my best to recollect the final 2-3 days of our tour with Intrepid Travel, the end of which would signal the real beginning of our adventure! We stayed in Gaudy's Hostel on the outskirts of the city about a 40 minute walk from the main center. Am 2.Mai gehts los. Wahnsinn, bin so krass aufgeregt. Mein Zug nach Frankfurt geht am Samstag um 22:45Uhr. Und Sonntag früh fliege ich dann über Madrid nach San José in Costa Rica. Für die ersten vier Wochen ist Roselle meine Gastmutter. In dieser Zeit gehe ich auch in die Sprachschule und wenn ich Glück hab, kann ich nach der Zeit dort fließend Spanisch;-). Am meisten freue ich mich jedoch auf die Zeit als Volontär im Nationalpark. Aber jetzt wird weiter gepackt, schließlich ists noch nicht so weit!... read more
