Hello again! I thought I'd write another little blog to let you know what I'm up to...well some of it any way! I left Heathrow with some tears (because of the mother goose) but mostly excitement. Until that is, we took off and I came to the realisation that I was on my own! This lasted a few minutes, as I told myself to get a grip and man up! I slept a lot of the way, which was lush. We had a stop over in Bombay, where I met too lovely English girls called Sophie and Laura..I say I met them, I basically launched myself at them for the company! When we landed in Bangkok, we all got a taxi to Koh San Road (which is the main backpacker hangout) we found a hostel-a pretty ... read more

It all came down to pushing the button 'DO IT' shouted Sue, so I did! I'd gone and booked a flight to Sydney for a weeks time! Ahhhhh exciting!!! Had a 'few' goodbye's with my Melbourne friends and dins with Sue and James, and before I knew it , I was saying 'seeya Melbs' and off to the airport. I had sooo many mixed feelings, all revolving around the scared as hell feeling and I'm about to wet myself excited feeling! I was doing this on my OWN...Oh my God! The flight was so quick, and then I was in Sidders. I talked a German fello into walking me to the street I needed for my hostel, said farewell and walked..walking straight passed my hostel! Was starting to feel abit aggie, as I was hot and ... read more

Well...this is going to be a short one :) When we arrived, finally in South Australia, we found a free camp spot (of course!) And planned to wake up early early and carry on with the travels..by now we had decided that we needed to be in Melbourne, with friends and earning some money! So any way, we got to bed early, with the hope to rise early (early for us any how!)We got up at 6.00am...to find too many people about, and the other campers gone-this is bloomin weird, we thought. Everyone must get up at the crack of dawn here...as you can imagine, we were standing there scratching our heads :) I went to the toilet, and bumped into the cleaners, the cleaners I tell you...surely they don't start work at 6.00am??? 'It's 9am ... read more

Hey!! Finally grabbed some time to write a little about Australia so far... Well, we arrived in Perth on the 26th August. We were both really excited but also pretty nervous about what we were going to do and what was going to happen-as we hadn't planned anything. We caught a bus to a random backpackers hostel and stayed there for a couple of nights. First impressions-blooming expensive! ( But I guess any where compared to Asia is!) The hostel wasn't cheap, and as we were in the city, nothing else was cheap either! We spoke to my mums friends Suzy and Julian, and spent the week with them. It gave us the opportunity to find jobs, somewhere to live and mode of transport...well, the first two didn't really work out, but we found 'Muppet' a ... read more

Well, we very nearly missed our boat off the Islands. We both had a dive that morning and then I had another one a bit later (greedy I know!) Which would 'apparently' leave plenty of time to catch the boat. My dive finished later than planned, and neither of us had eaten, so we left our bags at the dive school and grabbed a quick bite. Just as we got the food the bloomin boat arrived, early, EARLY, unheard of in Asia I'm sure! So we swallowed our food whole and ran for our bags. A couple of girls we met were keeping the boat from leaving, so we quickly threw our bags on board and climbed on...I then realised I'd left my flip flops at the dive school..woops! After all the commotion and flip-flop saving ... read more

The journey for Thailand to Malaysia was an interesting one :) We traveled on a couple of buses, the first one, great, we had a few people we could chat too, including two Malaysians who were lovely and gave us brilliant advice. The second bus consisted of locals and one American guy, which was fine. We asked quite a number of times 'does the bus drop you off in Malaysia or at the border?' The answer being 'In Malaysia.' Anyway, we get moving on the bus, its getting quite late as we get closer to the border. The bus pulls up to the pavement, as we get to the border. The driver ushers myself, Geoff and this American dude off. We three are standing at the border with our bags...'oh, the bus must meet us on ... read more

Hey all! Sorry for the delay...had a little trouble with the access to the internet-being stuck in the middle of know where in Australia :) From Koh Tao we took a sleeper boat to the main land, then brought tickets for Koh Phi Phi. On arriving to Koh Phi Phi, I unfortunately fell asleep on the boat...resulting in a panda tan (because of my stupidly over sized bug glasses, as my brothers would call them!) Geoffrey however found this pretty hilarious, as you can imagine, I didn't! When we put foot to land, we got offered a hostel to stay in. We followed a man as he weaved through the numerous market stalls until we arrived at our destination. It was an ok room as it goes. To be honest Koh Phi Phi was a little ... read more

Us again!! We traveled straight through from Siem Reap (Cambodia) to Bangkok on bus. When we arrived we had a 40minute stop, which was just enough time to swallow a plate of Pad Thai! We then caught a second bus to Chumphon, and a 1 and a half hour ferry ride over to Koh Toa-an Island in South-West Thailand. Total travel took about 24hrs...we were happy though, as we got to watch an English film on our way to Chumphon...simple pleasures! When we arrived on Koh Tao, we booked our Open water diving course! We went straight to the New Way diving school and got 5nights free accomadation, as part of the Diving course agreement. That evening we watched a dvd, then had our first dive the next day. Diving is AMAZING! Our diving instructor was ... read more

Hello!! Just to let you know, I'm not going to start with the most pleasant of write ups, but I believe its something not to be forgotten. Well, where do I start...We traveled from Saigon to Phnom Phen by bus. We spent a couple of days here. We visited the Killing fields and S21. Under the Khmer Rouge, the route to the killing fields was via an interrogation centre. The most infamous was Phnom Penh's S-21 Prison. In 1976, the Khmer Rouge took over the what was a high school and named it Security prison 21 (S21) and turned it into a torture, interrogation and execution centre. About 1,720 workers controlled the prison. Most of the personnel were boys and girls from peasant backgrounds ranging from ten to nineteen years of age who were trained to ... read more

Hey all! The journey from Laos to Hanoi took about 24 hours. We could only get a local bus, which was an experience to say the least! We were shoved in the back along with the other westerners, although I had an old local woman sit on my lap most of the trip :) At about 2am we stopped just before the boarder. The bus driver shouted something we couldn't understand and disappeared...we then realised we were sitting in the middle of no where on an incredibly hot bus, all we could do was get off, sit and wait! About 4 hours later, there was movement and we got on our way to cross the border! Our first stop was Hanoi. Its a very busy city...apparently it has a population of 7million people and 6million mopeds! ... read more
