Hello again!
I thought I'd write another little blog to let you know what I'm up to...well some of it any way!
I left Heathrow with some tears (because of the mother goose) but mostly excitement. Until that is, we took off and I came to the realisation that I was on my own! This lasted a few minutes, as I told myself to get a grip and man up! I slept a lot of the way, which was lush. We had a stop over in Bombay, where I met too lovely English girls called Sophie and Laura..I say I met them, I basically launched myself at them for the company! When we landed in Bangkok, we all got a taxi to Koh San Road (which is the main backpacker hangout) we found a hostel-a pretty nice hostel, with aircon and a pool! We then went for dins..was an early night for us! I stayed with the girls for a couple of days in Bangkok, a couple of days is definitely long enough, then went on my way to Ko Lak to see Geoff. The journey was long and hot, but i eventually got there, 3 hours late, where
Geoff was waiting for me! Ko Lak was pretty quiet as the season was ending, plus everyone was saying their emotional goodbyes, which I was intruding upon, but they were all lovely people, lots of fun! Geoff was going on a live-aboard trip, so I said goodbye, and made my way to Koh phanang.
The trip over was fine, going from the west to the East is a pretty straight forward bus trip, then boat ride to the island. I decided to stay at Coral bungalows, which was a great decision as I met some really cool people. Started off meeting a lot of french people, who were very animated and funny to be around. There were many pool parties, which consisted of getting thrown in the pool, continuously, until I threatened an Italian guys family and he stopped! Haha! My friends Sophie and Laura were also on the island, so I saw them on the beach for the fire shows and whisky buckets! I met some British guys later, who enjoyed being naked on the beach a little too much! A few days in my friends Simon and Chloe, who I knew in Sydney, came and joined me.
We stayed a little out of the action for a few days, which was nice, as I needed a little rest! We visited the beach, getting poor excuses for tans, except Simon who looked very brown (Bastard!) We went to a jungle party with some girls we met, danced a lot!! Met up with Geoff here too! Koh phanang is basically a notorious party island, but when its calmer its lush...nice beaches, cool people!
We all decided to go to Koh Tao..I visited this island before, and loved it just as much as I did the first time! I went diving with Geoff and got my Advance diving cert, which was brill! Had my fake birthday, celebrated with a bottle of god knows what and a little cake with candles..we then went on a pub crawl, which was fun! They sang happy birthday to me, Simon told the annoying promo lady my name was Trudy, so that was my name for the night! Haha! Was very funny! Met a lot more cool people. After a few days I realised my Thailand Visa was running out, and it costs about £10 everyday u go over your visa. So i said
goodbye to Si, Chloe, Geoff etc and left the island with a Swedish friend. We were aiming to go back to Ko Lak, but we missed the bus, so stayed a night in Surat thani..had aircon and everything! Ooooh!! The next day we caught the bus, Robin got off in Ko Lak and I carried onto Phuket, having left Surat thani at 10am I arrived in Phuket at 5.30pm. I had 2 days until my visa ran out, so I decided to carry on travelling until I got over the border in Malaysia. I had to wait 2 hours in the Phuket bus station, then 7 hours later I arrived in Hat yai. I arrived at 2am, and managed to find a crappy hostel to have a wash and a 3 hour sleep. The next morning I was off again, on another bus!! I finally arrived in Kuala Lumpa at around 7pm. I attached myself to an Aussie guy, Simon, and an English girl, Nicola. We found a hostel and then ate..meaning Id been living on crisps for the last 3 days (which I secretly enjoyed) I needed some veg and nutrients! We then went and explored a little..we found
a really cool tower which over looked the city, it was beautiful! We then explored the bars, which were cool too, especially the free cocktails! We said goodbye to Aussie Simon, as he was reluctantly going home, and Nicola and I found a really cool hostel! Im writing to you from the common room, which is full of westerners, chilling, watching films and taking advantage of the free wifi! Brill!
Well thats it for now! Hope its given you a little insight!
Much love
Sophie x
