ter a relaxing night in the snazzy hostel, Nicola and I decided to visit the Batu caves. Batu caves is said to be around 400 million years old. We were joined by Josh, Heidi and Tiffany. It took a couple of trains to get there, but didnt take long. When we arrived, we were greeted by a huge monkey God statue...then greeted by lots and lots of macaque monkeys! They were running around all over the place, eating out of bins, screaming at each other! They were pretty amusing, although I kept a distance...never trust a hungry monkey! 😊 We walked up 272 steps to look around the cave, looking at all the Hindu shrines and laughing at the monkeys. We came across the alpha-male...he was big and mean!! We then went for lunch, had an Indian type of bread with potato and dipping sauces...was YUM!! Then headed back to the hostel. Myself, Nicola and Tif went for a wander round some museums and had a look at some temples. That night we all went out for some drinks, free cocktails again for ladies, so I was happy. There was 9 of us...we also went to a club (terrible music and
the dancing...well that was something else!!) Got home quite late, but had set an alarm as was visiting Melaka for a couple of days.
Myself, Nicola and Tif decided to go to Melaka. We got the bus, which took only 2hrs. We got a taxi to China town and found a hostel. We went for a lush Indian, then explored China town (after a 3 hour nap!!) It was hustle and bustle, busy market, with stalls selling all sorts. They had funny bike vehicles that were lit up with coloured lights and decorations. The next day we had to go on a long bus trip to get tickets for the next day to leave...we were all going in different directions but should all be meeting up again in Bali. After the mission to get tickets, we went on a little boat cruise up the river. It took around 45minutes, and the excitement was evident as an old Chinese man fell fast asleep for the whole thing!! The wall art was cool though!
The next day we all got a taxi to the buses for 9am. I was heading back to Kuala Lumpur, as I was flying to Indonesia
the next day! We all said goodbye, arranging to meet in Bali! I decided to stay at the lush hostel again...Although, unfortunately, all the people I liked have left, leaving the only weirdo in the hostel, buzzing around! Oh well, one night and I’m outta here!!
The next day I get a bus to the airport! Bye bye Malaysia...hello Indonesia! I share a taxi with a guy from the plane, to Kuta (in Bali). This is a big tourist place, full of Aussies! We find a cheap hostel, then go and explore. After a long night, exploring the bars...I finally have head on pillow by 5am ish. The next day we go to the beach. It’s an ok beach, the sand's quite black, but hey ho! There are lots of surfers on the beach, the waves are huge! I decide to stay on the sand! After my attempt at a sun tan, we chill will some locals on the beach and watch the sun set...very beautiful! That night we meet up with some friends I met in Kuala Lumpar, which is good because the guy I was with starting to irritate me! The next day I excitedly wait for
my mate Simon to arrive...I sit for an hour outside my hostel, until he finally rocks up! We go to the beach...and for a Mc Donads-bad influence! That night we return to the hostel to meet my friend Tiffany! She arrives, YAY!!! We head out into Kuta that night. A group of us decide to have a little tour of Bali. We hire a taxi and visit a temple, monkey forest (where a horrible bloody monkey bit me and tried to rob me!) We also visited some rice fields and a market. Was a really good day, we all felt like we'd accomplished something 😊 A couple days later Tif, Si and I decided to go scuba diving at the wreck. It was truly wonderful! We did 2 shore entry dives (where u walk into the sea from the beach, as appose to entering the water from a boat) the sea life was incredible, I love diving!!
After being in Kuta for a while, Tiffany and I were ready to see somewhere new! So we said good bye to Simon, and left for the Gili islands. We arrived on Gili Trawangan in the afternoon, and I instantly fell in
love with the place. Beautiful white beach, aqua water, beach bars + restaurants...paradise!! Tiffany and I found a hostel, Jessica, then hit the beach. We met a few friends on the beach and arranged to meet them that night. We all went out and ended up watching the sunrise the next morning, which was stunning! The island had a really chilled vibe, compared to Kuta!! The restaurants were nice, little dearer than Kuta, which is expected! Tiffany and I went scuba diving...saw beautiful coral, a shark and a turtle, which was pretty epic! I only got to spend four days on the island, which was a huge bummer! Felt really awful saying goodbye to Tiffany and to Gili T 😞 But I had a flight to catch back to Thailand from Bali. Saying goodbye to Indonesia was strangely emotional for me...I usually feel a pang of sadness, which is short lived, but I truly felt gutted to leave...I’m definitely going back one day, mine and Indonesia's relationship has no way come to an end!!!
