It is fair to say that 2016 has not been the most positive year in history. So this coming year, I intend to follow the old adages of taking every day as it comes, celebrating the small things, and have having a positive outlook. I sometimes get bogged down in what is happening in the world day-to-day in certain corners of the world. I want to broaden my knowledge and understanding of the world, and see the beautiful things that people do. It was this that gave me the idea for 2017. I have no money for travelling at the moment, so I've decided to concentrate on this.
I don't always make New Year's Resolutions, and even those I do make rarely survive much past February. This is why I am blogging this, hopefully it will keep me going. The only other time that I have kept a blog was a couple of years ago when I travelled from Hong Kong to Carnforth, England, by train. Being that this will be covering a vast array of cultures and nations, I hope no one minds me posting this here.
New Year's Resolution 2017: Celebrate Every Day.
I am going to celebrate every day of 2017. I am going to find a cultural, religious, or national holiday to celebrate every day of 2017. Hopefully this will include lots of celebratory food and drink... because I like food and drink, but also an insight into cultures around the world and a little joy every day.
If anyone reading this (and I hope people are reading this) have any suggestions for upcoming celebrations, message me and let me know, or tweet me @fighiggins
All the best for 2017 and Happy New Year!
