Waiting for Rudd - From: book article
Rudd's a conservative politician ( rule No. 1 = stay in power ) . He has said that he needs a " public groundswell " before any new referendum . HE cannot initiate that . So if we are waiting for him and he's waiting for us the result is ZERO. PPPPPP -- Prior Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance . A " groundswell " needs to be created and that takes time and organisation . I think this medium is the key . It can reach a lot of people very fast and coordinate their action . All it takes is a unity of purpose . We lost the last referendum because of a lack of purpose -- a lack of unity .

Persistance - From: QUIET
Hello Fred , just near here is a 'surf cam ' which you can log into to check the surfing conditions . I figured out where the camera was and went onto the beach about 100 m in front of it with a large flag and just stood there for about half an hour . then went home and logged on ( the film is logged about every hour and you can check back ) -- very strangely the period of time I was there was marked ' unavailable ' ! Interestingly while standing there I was approached by a young couple who wanted to know all about the flag and where they could get one . I was unprepared and could only refer them to your website .

Oz flag..coooeeee - From: hello
Hi, Fred Love the Ozflag. My partner and I got a hand on a sticker for the car early last year and we were wondering where can we get more? A little hand flag would be the way to go for next Australia Day. Thanks. PippaG

Australia Day - From: hello
I agree with Sky - there was a huge display of British Ensigns on cars - personaly I think anglo-bogans are having an ' ethnic moment ' at present in response to the very evident multi culturism . The Union Jack is a statement saying ' I am Anglo and so is this country ' . Very unfortunate . I guess it comes from a poor civics education . John Howard was wrong ' we ' realy don't know who we are .

Big One ? - From: THE BIG ONE
G'day Fred , what do you mean - ' appear nationaly ' ? I have been wanting to do some spruiking myself - which is why I purchased some flags and stickers a while back from you . Can you describe the best technique for a spruik . How do you 'set up ' and where , do you just wave the flag around and hope people will approach you , do you 'advertise ' with a sign . I was going to set up at our local markets - it will cost me $15 once a month but the exposure may be worth it (?) . What places do you reccommend to do a spruik ?

Like following your diary, Notice was drawn to the flag from a Victorian Town near me in Australia, called Yarroweyah (yaroeea) near the Murray River and Cobram. They cam across you in Qld I think. They fly the flag every day, only swapping with the Eureka falg occasionally. Will continue to follow your journey here in Australia. Good Luck! Keep warm!! Christine Milton

right on - From: More quiet
Fred, you are awesome. someone should make a short film on you adventures and intention. I can see it on A & E here in the states. It would be awesome. Love hearing about the birds, you'll have a long lifelist. Write, write, write, your impressions down in a journal, you have a book in the making, pubs and all. Characters, seascapes, odd sleep places, and the joyful life of a 60 something man doing his thing. Right on!!!

love ya work! - From: the blogger's art....
Bravo Fred you brave soul ... and a transplanted outsider to boot ... showing the way. Scorn and ignorance part of the price in this scary jingoistic construct that has seeped into the polis these last 10- 15 years. Don't get me started! Anyway, you gave me a flag in Bronte Park, must be 2 years ago. Worn it proudly on the back window of my little white car ever since. Alas time, tide and salt-laden air have taken their toll. Almost faded away. Time to renew, refresh - so email me so that I can buy some. Cheers backshedman@hotmail.com

softy softly catchee monkey - From: Mob rule
Strewth mate - you've got to learn politics ! ( and study the principles of guerilla war . ) Or as the Chinese say - "Softly , softly catchee monkey " . I'd say it was lucky that the camera didn't capture the aggressive response in Ingham . It could have resulted in some very bad publicity. We have got to remember that there are forces out there that are extremely powerful and fanaticaly opposed to a change of flag .

Classroom Activity. - From: Ulladulla
Dear Fred, A teacher collegue and I saw you 'spruiking' at Ulladulla on the 18th jan'07. It prompted us to include the ozflag campaign in our resources for a year 9 english unit on Australian identity. It was a shame we didn't get to speak to you personally, so i appreciate the chance to contact you through this blog. The web site is very good, especially the ability to print the poster to show the students. Thank you for your hard work and all the best. Lorraine.

hi fred, thank you for your imperfect, sometimes delightful, oft times palpable, profane and prophetic prose. stuck, as i am, in a sydney office and to be able to shuffle off on a voyeuristic daily voyage is a distinct pleasure. you symbolise all that is important about this world - change. change to grow, change to improve, change to find revelation in perspective. bravo!
