kosgaggers - Lars and I

Lars and I I'm Maria, 28 from Australia and living in Norway. Reason why? I met my man in 98 at Uni. Lars was studying in Melbourne and living the life and so was I. We have lived in Oslo, Norway in 2000, after in Dublin, Ireland in 2003 and in between in Melbourne. Now it's back to Oslo again. So here goes!

It was an experience! Everything is made out of ice, even the glasses I'm holding. The downside was wearing the ugly smelly blue coat.
True to my word I am updating you with a blog that did not take quite as long as the last one to write. Well since September lots have happened. Jens came from Germany and Danielle came from Australia to visit us as well as additional visits from Lars's family. We also managed to go to some concerts, Crowded House (rated badly and was something that we would probably never go and see if we were in a Australia and did not have Danielle visitng us at the time), Manu Chao was fantastic as always as was The Cat Empire (went [View Full Entry]

In January I tried skiing. Norwegians, they say, are born with ski's on their feet and now I know why. After two tries and many big blue bruises on my arse, I managed to ski down a hill. Check out the videos - click on film strips to the left. February Renee & Martijn visited us. Tobogganing...check out the video Snow started to melt March Went to Australia...check out the photo - caught up with family and friends - new cousin (Bianca) - warmth and sunshine April Back from Australia I went to Florence with Vicki Started my job at GE [View Full Entry]

Christmas here started a bit early, at our Christmas party on the 9th of December. After quite a few drinks, Lars felt that the party ended long before our guests left, which is why he ended up passing out on our bed. Some of our mates decided to draw a moustache on Lars’s face with mascara for his punishment. Check out the photo. Christmas in Norway was pretty over the top. I did not realise that there was so much to it. They have special things that only come out during Christmas time. They have Christmas chocolate, Christmas soft drink, Christmas [View Full Entry]

Lars and I headed to Italy, had a quick stopover in Rome and then went to the southern part of Italy in Calabria to visit my family. Highlights included: My family Homemade food (pasta) and wine - lots of it of course! Beach We had a great time, apart from losing my luggage and not being able to buy any clothes from the village we stayed in (It only sold wedding dresses and jewellry). We knew we had a great holiday as we brought back a few extra kilos of body fat and a great tan. After our return we had [View Full Entry]

Outside our bedroom window
Last month comes with many changes. The weather and even my employment. Finally got to see real snow for the first time. Very exciting! I’ve bought a bargain military jacket to keep me warm, it weighs a ton but will keep me ready for the season. We are seeing less of the light and more of the darkness. Sun goes up at 8ish and down at 4ish and as we are not early risers during the weekends, we don’t get to see much of the sun. I got a job packing and manging the online orders for ugly snowflake Norwagian jumpers. [View Full Entry]

Well as some of you guys may already know I have started my first job here in Norway. I drive around outside of Oslo for 10 hours a day, collecting petrol prices. Just what I needed, a pretty relaxed job after RMIT. The toughest parts are that I have to wake up at 5am or be forced to listen to Norwegian radio in the car when Lars’s Ipod runs out of battery. I work part time. I only get paid the minimum wage, but what can I expect when I’m only really using my brain power to remain on the right [View Full Entry]

Hei, I know I have been quite bad in writing since arriving in Norway but without the internet at home this proves to be a bit of a challenge.??But I'm here now so here goes. Vret/The Weather The weather has been amazingly nice and since I have been here it has rained only one weekend but that's ok cause since I have lots of time during the week I still get to enjoy the nice weather.??I can appreciate why people get so happy and strip to their bikinis (and less!) in the parks in and around the city as the sun, [View Full Entry]
