Too Rude 9-10 November 2015 This weekend was a busy one for us, it was the Perth 4wheel drive and outdoor adventure show and we were to be part of it and not just as spectators walking around the show. Saturday was also a big day for us emotionally as like our recent blog, This is who we are) 7 years today, was the celebration of us leaving the UK and strangely enough is also the day 38 years ago the Toyota Landcruiser Club of Western Australia was set up and as we will be 40 years old in 2017 I have put myself forwards to coordinate our huge celebrations for our members. We left the cabin at about 6.45am, yes I did say 6,45 am as we had to get to McCallam Park were the ... read more

Well how about this then? 2,555 days ago or seven years ago today we left home, on a rainy Friday at Heathrow airport, en route to an exciting new adventure in Australia. It’s hard for us to equate or even remember what we have done it has been so huge and then I usually write something like “has it been worth it?” so I won’t! Not this time anyway. I guess when we look back to the series of events that lead us here we have to thank our dear friends Gary and Karen Barber who initially asked us if we wanted to accompany them to Australia for a five week holiday in 2006/7 and that’s when the die was cast for our love for this enormous country. When we lived in the old country we ... read more

Mystery Caller 23-25th October 2015 It was Friday night and we had both come to the conclusion that we were desperately in need of a change of scenery so there was no other option than to hitch Roobie up and get out of town All we wanted to do was get some quite head space and go somewhere where we could have a camp fire and sit back and look at the stars, which is something that we have not done for a while. I collected Caroline from Fremantle station on Friday straight from work, she got off the train at 4.17, and jumped in the car and we headed back to where we are staying in Freo, parked the car, then Hitched Roobie (Our Kamper Trailer) to Jack, put the laptop and Camera’s in and ... read more

Hi All, I appreciate this is our travel blog, but to be fair its also about our new life in Australia, well our life over the last seven years really so I guess this blog is validated. Now we are not what you call “Whingeing Poms” never have, never will as we have adopted this amazing place we now call home and never say, oh we can’t get this or that was better back in the UK, because I don’t think its realistic to do that, my opinion is, if you don't like what you are offered here, go where you can get it some where else and as far as we are concerned we like what we get. Now as you know, one thing Caroline and I love is a good curry and managed to ... read more

Last year for my birthday our friends peter and Leigh Walker (The Kids) as we call them, got me tickets for Perth Zoo, so we always promised ourselves we would have a nice day out together. Now fast forward nearly a year and we still hadn’t used the tickets as we have been so busy and trying to identify a suitable day had been difficult, especially with the work thing and also trying to coordinate the time when the local kids would not be on holiday and we now had nearly run out of time, we had a public holiday weekend so we decided to schedule our visit to see our animal friends. The weather in Perth is hotting up, we are still officially in spring time, until the 1st of December, and so ... read more

03/10/2015 North Dandalup We both woke early, there had been the lightest of rain throughout the night, I had to get out of bed twice in the night and when I climbed out from under the doona, got out the swag in just my jocks the night time temperature was still fairly warm, we are still in spring but the days are warming up in the early 30’s. Some people were up and about early tending bikes and getting them selves prepared for another day in the saddle and it seemed like it was going to be another good day, I wandered over to the catering facility and the hot water boilers were steaming, so I made us both a coffee and took Caroline’s back to the swag where she complained there was not table, yea ... read more

This weekend’s adventure was Lifecycle for Canteen (Off Road) we had done Lifecycle for Canteen on road, so this could not be that different could it?? My Alarm was set for 4.00 am, I woke at about 2.45 I got out of bed at 3.00am, I was under instruction from Caroline not to wake her until 4.30 am as we needed to be away by 5.00. Now our role was a funny one, not funny peculiar but funny ha ha, our first mission was to tow one of the toilets for the riders. When I was advised I was going to have to pick one of the toilets up from Kennard’s the hire people, who I have to say were graciously donating all the box trailers and toilets for this charitable event, Jack Dowling said to ... read more

Saturday 12 September 2015 We had been invited to have dinner at Andy and Karens on Saturday evening and when we got there Trevor and Peta were there, who had dropped in on route from some where. It was only 5.30 and I had a HF radio sked to do and as Andy Bayley is also a radio operator on VKS 737 so I could sit at his desk and do the sked from here, so it was just a case of booting his computer up and putting the head phones on. Whilst I was doing the sked, the gang were in the living room and by the time my sked had finished Trevor and Peta had left, so It had been a while since we had seen Andy and Karen and settled in for a ... read more

Easy Like a Sunday Morning.(NOT) We were pretty late to bed last night with the wedding which was sensational, and today (Sunday) it was time to recoup. The night had been cold, we put an extra doona on the bed, someone forgot to put the electric blanket on (low) before we went out, Helen reminded us at the wedding as she had done hers,so when we got home late the bed was cold. As there is no external light pollution the milky waycompletely filled the night sky as far as the eye could see just envelopedthe black night andwas just truly amazing, as we put the car in the garage and pulled the door shut the night creatures were making a bit of a din, frogs and toads in the creek were calling out, the odd ... read more
