We were asked by the travel blog moderators if we would like to write the new Country Description for Australia as they thought the old one was out of date and it needed a refresh, we obviously accepted the offer as we felt capable of writing what was required. Caroline and I sat down and looked at Australia and wrote down what we considered a traveller would want to know about a country as a brief description, based on the fact that we only had between 250 and 300 words to write, this would be a snap shot of Australia. We started our country description, with Australia the Lucky Country, we truly believe it is, and we are truly grateful to be living here. We have fantastic weather, most of the time, a very small population, ... read more

Saturday came around and we both felt sad as it was the very last day of our amazing trip over East, all the boxes had been ticked, well most of them anyway, friends had been seen, weddings had been attended and ties had been reaffirmed. We didn’t wake particularly early, perhaps just after 7am, which is not bad considering we had trouble adjusting to the time when we first came over, and Caroline was expecting me to get out of bed to make her coffee, maybe I had set a precedence as I have done it for the last 25 years, but today I just couldn’t be bothered, I must have had the subconscious feeling that we would be going home today and I was trying to prolong the holiday. We eventually rose, after Caroline had ... read more

xxJust call me darling Friday 10th April Waking up to a sunny morning in Sydney, Caroline slipped out of bed to make a cup of tea, it was lovely and relaxing to laze around, nobody was out of bed too early so we didn't feel too guilty. We eventually got up after doing a bit of blogging in bed, we were at Jan and Teddy’s residence and we managed to drag our backsides out of bed and made an appearance for breakfast. Jan, Ted, Glen and Bon were all in the process of getting up and ready for the day. Tea was in abundance, toast was doing in the toaster, I am a real sucker when it comes to Marmalade, I just love it!!. Over breakfast we came up with a plan that we would get ... read more

Woodstock and back to Perth, The last few days had been very wet, Susan said that the sun would come out just as we were leaving Canberra and she was absolutely spot on! Heading toward the North of Canberra we could see the Telstra Tower clearly on the black mountain, the roads were still looking shiny from the last rainfall, the roads were fairly busy with people heading off to work and probably home from work too! Although excited to be heading back to Woodstock, it was also the start of our journey back to Perth. I guess with some mixed feelings about leaving Canberra, we have really enjoyed catching up with so many of our friends, sadly not all of them and being back here does make us miss Canberra, however the cooler weather had ... read more

Poor My toes were freezing because I was wearing thongs (flip flops), the temperature on the car dashboard says 6 degrees C and when we checked the weather in Perth an hour before it was 17 degrees, oh and just in case I forget to mention later on, it has been snowing in the mountains, so it is fair to say that I am feeling the cold this morning! After a couple of days at Woodstock, enjoying the surrounds, Helen and Roberts company and sorting through our gear that we had stored in the container, we want to take some stuff back to Perth with us, in particular a saucepan that will go nicely in Roobie. We both have a mass session of trying on clothes and creating piles of "taking" and "leaving" amongst the nice ... read more

I am not sure if we mentioned in the previous blog, but as we arrived back in Canberra this afternoon we pulled up at a set of traffic lights, Andy pointed out a couple of vehicles, one Lamborghini and one Ferrari, they were clearly wedding cars supported by a Jeep and a Mercedes. A moment later a police car cam screeching to a halt in front of the 3 lanes of traffic at the lights essentially blocking the road, a policeman suddenly appeared and shouted down the queue of traffic for "someone" to turn off the engine. I would swear that the whole queue of traffic turned off their engines. Well it looked like the brides day was about to be ruined, we are not sure what really happened, but perhaps they were racing each other ... read more

The reason we came over to the East was for our friends wedding we attended in Tarcutta and now the wedding was all done and dusted, literally we had the freedom to catch up with all of our fiends and there was no way we were going to travel this far and not make it a great event. Obviously our first stop was the farm, (My Spiritual Home) I just love the isolation of the farm, though only 60 K’s from Wagga Wagga, its tranquil, beautiful and a haven for peace and quiet. When we arrived I was so delighted to see Helen and Robert again after nearly two years away, they both looked very well, the thing I love about Helen is her no drama, no fuss approach to everything, from a splinter to the ... read more

9am and I peeled my eyes back, we overslept! But despite having gone to bed early the night before my head is still screaming the words "early" at me. It feels like 6am which of course it is in Perth. We both venture out of bed and into the kitchen for a cup of tea, Helen, of course, is there and as usual been up for hours and no doubt probably done half a days work before we even opened our eyes. Today is Josh and Erica's wedding, we have been looking forward to this, especially knowing that the wedding is on their property and will be our first proper country wedding, whilst we have been in Australia. But first, I need to go for a jog down the lane, I have not been doing too ... read more

We had worked all day and as usual I collected Caroline from the train station at 5.00pm and drove back to the house. We were nearly packed having spent yesterday evening sorting everything out and just had bits and pieces to put in to complete the task, just stuff like the charging of I-pads and I-pods, and all other things I-Whatever. With the final bits done, Olivia, our friends daughter, came to collect us as she was kindly taking us to the airport, it was raining outside, and we hadn’t seen any reasonable in for since well before Christmas and it would be welcome for the garden and hopefully the water tank. The drive to the airport was nearly an hour and fortunately uneventful we arrived at bout 9.00, it was raining quite hard, so after ... read more

14 & 15 March 2015 A while ago we had put our names down to help on the Life-cycle for Canteen charity bike ride, we offered our assistance to our then president of the Toyota Landcruiser Club and unfortunately all we could offer was a Saturday and Sunday, so Bob said he would see if he could make it work and call us back. Sure enough Bob did call back and accepted our offer of two days help and another of our members would do the final day on Monday when the bike ride would complete. There had been a lot of email traffic over this event as our job was to drive the support vehicle which was at the rear of the “Green Team” and our friend and fellow club members Jack and Sue were ... read more
