hot and cold... this is the world
Hi I'am Adrian fron north west Italy, I seen by oeu network, that is very hot now in Australia. 47 degrees heat, is absolutly abnormal, but be happy anyway, You just have the opportunity to get fresh bath into the ocean. Nothing to do with our situation here, which is quite bad, due I'am leaving at the feet of Alps, nearly the big forest called "Cansiglio": last Saturday 25cm snow and less 12°C (-12°C), We been luky because just on the top of this big mountaing, (where nobody live!)was less22°C (-22°C) during daylight and less 40°C (-40°C maximum value) in the night. So everithing here is frozen. Best regards Adriano

Sorry we won't get to see you back in Sydney
Hi Andy & Caroline, Congratulations Andy! Great news! Told you your perfect job was just around the corner :) Sorry that we won't get to see you back in Sydney but, happy for you nonetheless. When is the big day? When is kickoff? Ted and I are once again back in residence at 135 after the dramas of the last couple of weeks. Nat and Justin are back from Perth and things are starting to return to normal once more (whatever that is!) and, I must admit to having enjoyed just being able to potter at home the last couple of days and catch up on a few things. Hope you are feeling in the pink once again Caroline and that your job is still going well. Enjoy your new fridge after all the drama. Luv, J & T xxx

Australia Day and since
Hi Guys, Take 2 for this comment. The first one of a couple of days ago seems to have disappeared into cyberspace somewhere so, will give it another shot. Day 7 and, we are still surviving! Better than surviving and, only took us a couple of days to get into the routine of school drop offs/pick ups; daycare; swimming lessons; ballet lessons and the odd birthday party cum sleep over. We haven't yet zigged when we should have zagged so, all calm on the western front. Erin & Adam are good and settled down well after the initial shock of the news and, we are managing to keep things as close to a normal routine as possible. Nat & Justin are still in Perth. Passed on your condolences to them both for which they were very appreciative and have asked us to say a special thank you on their behalf. Undoubtedly they will catch up with you on their return. Nat will be home tomorrow night. Justin will stay on to attend to all the legalities. The funeral was Monday which was a tough day for all concerned but, all weathered it okay. Loved your blog on Eating Around Australia - love them all but, particularly this one as it had a personal meaning. We did have a great time on Australia Day, didn't we? It was a lot of fun and enjoyed it immensely. There are more photos of the day once you get your email sorted. Pleased to hear you are settling into the workaday world again Caroline and, hang in there Andy - your perfect job is just around the corner! Love you guys. Catch up again soon. Luv, Jan, Ted & Co. xxxxx

Job Hunting
Hi Stacy, 2009 was a bad year for a lot of people I know in England on the work front, fingers crossed that 2010 is a better year for you! Good luck. I heard there would be more snow soon, but hope it does not stay. Caroline

Thank You
Thanks Mindy and everyone for congratulation messages, much appreciated, I hope you dont all want me to write about it everyday, I may not have the time, but dont worry I will endeavour to update you on how things are going. I was hoping to see the Memorials along Anzac Parade, but it is fairly well dug up at the moment so hoping that it will not be like that for too long so that we get chance to see the other memorials. The Love and War exhibit will only be there until May 2010. Caroline

Congrats!
congrats on the new contract position, Caroline. And thanks for the trip to the War Memorial, when I was in Canberra I decided that instead of walking through the building, I'd go and investigate the Memorials along the Avenue. Glad I did that, but sorry I missed seeing the Love and War exhibit!

Shock to the System
Hi, I cannot express truly how nervous I am at the thought of getting back to work, it will be a shock to the system but sadly a necessar evil, however the benefits will be that we will be able to move on again after a while so fingers crossed. In Dublin remember Bewleys, I did not do a pub crawl, but I remember Bewleys made Guiness toffees, they were rather nice! Take care Mrs KJ

Wanting to be on the road again
Hi Gary, Its great to be in Canberra for a bit of an explore, but we cannot wait to get back on the road again, however that work thing will have to be a consideration, so we will have to wait and see if something comes up. If it does then we will be in Canberra for a while, if not we will head onto somewhere else, but we do have to get back to Woodstock before moving on. Caroline

Responding....
Hi Stacy, apologies for not responding, nothing personal.... I have been a bit slack on responding to messages generally. :-(( We went to the Junee Liquorice and Chocolate Factory..... I have made a few visits and enjoyed a coffee in that delicious environment. I did not know about their Record breaking liquorice string! I did not see it mentioned anywhere but perhaps they talk about it on the tour, which we have not done. I too have not seen weather like the recent snow fall in England for many years, it seems to have been a rare occurence, but where we live(d) if we had snow fall then the rest of the country was really bad, and mostly when the rest of the country had snow, we had none, we were fortunate to miss it last winter too! I heard that the weather is warming up so hope the snow has gone by now. A belated Happy New Year to you! Caroline

Bran Nu Dae
Hi guys, good luck with the interview process. Kahls and I went to see Bran Nu Dae yesterday (with some friends who have also done the Australia trip) - it was brilliant. Lots of scenes in the movie we looked at each other and could say we've been there!! You guys would really enjoy it I'm sure. Talk to you soon Jode xx

Poor Caroline - fancy having to work for a living!! I've got my fingers crossed for you...and I'm sure you'll get the job. Still, it must be a shock to the system after a wonderful year on the road. Andy, I don't know the 5-storey place you're talking of in Dublin, I'm afraid. The pub I visited is just a pub on one level, and, sensibly, I didn't go on a pub crawl! (The town has got so expensive now since they adopted the Euro). Mell used to live there, though, so she'd be the person to ask.. :)

HP
Thought I would use my travelblog name and see what happened. Anyway, say Hi to Susan. Most of my working life was with Hewlett Packard mainframe computers. Nice to see you doing a bit of travel. Can't wait till you are on the road again.

A little fact for you...
I remember you wrote a while ago saying you had visited the Junee Licorice and Chocolate Factory...or at least was planning to, and as I'm flicking through the Guiness world records 2010 book, came across something you might like to know, if you don't already that is!!! 'Junee Licorice and Chocolate Factory (Australia) made a liquorice string measuring 224m (800 ft 6in) in Junee, New South Wales, Australia, on 8th March 2008' Bit random I know! :)
