My penultimate day with Lizzie was spent at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary with crippling stomach cramps. Damn these antibiotics!! At least I haven't got the poops. Silver linings and all that... Saw loads of koalas and kangaroos, a couple of wombats called heather and eddie and a MASSIVE crocodile. Saw the bird show, very good, included some kites, a pelican and a huge eagle. Then watched a sheep shearing show. Touched a snake and poked a kangaroo because it wouldn't behave for the camera. Stomach cramp was cured by a cola slushie! We then nipped in to see Francine, one of the lovely girls Lizzie works with. She's awesome! Then went home as Tom was cooking dinner for us all and his parents were coming over. While we were waiting Linda (Tom's mum) taught me how to ... read more

Oops, another long time with no blog.. Sorry!! I've been having too much fun with so much going on. Where do I start? Well I arrived at Lizzie and Tom's safely. Their flat is lovely. Was a bit hectic to begin with as all of Tom's family arrived that night too, was a house full! Was lovely to see them all though as they're a good laugh. Tried to stay out of the way though as I didn't want to intrude on family time. Spent the next couple of days chilling, visiting the beach and helping Lizzie with the last wedding bits. Her hen night was fun, met a lot of her friends who are awesome. Had a nice meal and then went to a seedy club! Didn't stay there too long though. Think we're all ... read more

Sorry I've not blogged in a couple of days.. Have been a bit busy! The overnight bus was as expected, uncomfortable and boring. Managed to get a couple of hours sleep though. Got to Byron Bay at 10am, met a couple of girls my age on the shuttle bus to the hostel. Kim and Natalie. They've been travelling for 14 months so far, travelled India and Thailand, then been working in Melbourne for 9 months. They've got the rest of Oz, new Zealand, India and Thailand (again) to do before they go home. They're lovely and have got me addicted to Aldi... Also met a lady from Brisbane called Kelly. We went for a beer or two and fancy dinner at the restaurant/brewery across from the hostel. Was delicious! She's good company and we're going to ... read more

This is the 4th time I've written this pigging entry, phone mucking about.. Sydney had been fun. I've surprised myself with how quickly I've got to know the city. I've only looked at a map once and that was just to find out which road greyhound was on. Otherwise I've just bimbled about! Got talking to one of the guys from my room last night, Mark. He said he didn't talk to me initially as he thought I was Italian and didn't speak any English!! Must be my Italian colouring.. He invited me out to the foam party at scary canary, but due to the foot being unable to get wet, let alone foamy, I politely declined. Also it was 11pm and I was still sulking in my pj's.. He asked me what had bought me ... read more

Well, the last couple of days have been pretty uneventful... Yesterday I was woken by 6 tonnes worth of glass bottles being thrown into the recycle bin at half 6 in the morning, followed by two girls getting up to leave the room and making loads of noise. Not used to the whole communal living thing yet! Decided to get up at about 8 to go to the harbour. Sat in the sun for a while reading my book (the shining, can't put it down at the mo). Then went whale watching in the afternoon. Saw about 10 humpback whales and a few dolphins. Was amazing!! Got back, walked round the botanical gardens again. So many runners. There is a load of steps, called the fleet steps (Queenie landed in Oz there, quite famous..) and I ... read more

Well getting the second flight went much more smoothly. There was also nobody sat near me. Attempted a lay down sleep with four seats, five pillows and three blankets! Only downsides were that there were two screaming young children near me and a couple who did insist on kissing loudly and generally giving it massive amounts of pda. I had to drink yet more vodka to cope. Two night flights in less than a 24 hour period is a bit odd though, don't know which way is up at the moment (although in Australia, so I'm obviously upside down anyway...). Yet again, Cathay Pacific were the tits. Lovely staff, good food and super strong drinks (no miniatures, just a very generous glugging method). Plus they had usb ports, so could charge my phone ready for landing. ... read more

Well, that first bit was a bit stressful! Got to the airport in good time as my lovely boyfriend Jamie drove me. Even had time to have a crappy cheap meal with him before catching my flight. Then the trouble began! Went to drop my bags off as I had already checked in, the lady scanned my passport and looked a bit worried... cue me starting to stress. She asked if I had a visa for Oz, I showed her the scrap of paperwork that I had for it, but said that STA Travel had sorted it and it should be ok. She still looked worried and toddled off to find a friend. She came back and said that my date of birth was wrong on the visa, so effectively I didn't have one. She rang ... read more
