Day 131 (Saturday 29/08/09, NJJ) Packed up then used the camp showers, very much needed as we hadn't been able to shower since Wednesday. Saw various viewpoints of the Upper and Lower Falls of Yellowstone river, and the north and south rim of the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. On then for the 81 mile drive to Cody, Wyoming from the east entrance of Yellowstone. Travelled through Buffalo Bill country. Scenery was different to anything we'd seen on the US part of the trip so far. Some lovely countryside which was very obviously cowboy country. Got to Cody around 2.30pm. Day 130 (Friday 28/08/09, NJJ) The ranger at the campground said there were moose on the other side of camp so we went for a look, we saw three grazing, they're such weird looking but elegant. Had a great view of the Teton range in the lovely morning light. Stopped at Moose, Jenny Lake and Coulter Bay. Special K for breakfast and lunch. Back to Yellowstone through the south entrance. Stopped at a few points on the way to Canyon Village for the campground which was fully booked for the season up until yesterday. Saw a small herd of bison on [View Full Entry]

Day 129 (Thursday 27/08/09, NJJ) Stopped at the Ranger Station on the way out of camp for my passport cancellation and bought my first National Parks Regional stamp (I won't mention these going forward but I had a bit of OCD for collecting these things - Jamie's fault he bought me the book). Drove the Firehole Canyon drive. Watched Old Faithful erupt - luckily we didn't have to wait long. Enjoyed the experience but it wasn't as impressive as we'd expected. I don't think we were at the best viewpoint though and it was a while to wait for the next [View Full Entry]

Day 128 (Wednesday 26/08/09, NJJ) 3 weeks to Wedding Up at 8.30am after great night sleep in a very comfortable bed. Had the complimentary motel breakfast. Got a taxi at 10.45am to the car rental place at the nearby airport, picked up the Nissan Versa then we were on the road. Phoned Joan and spoke to both the Mums who were looking at flights etc. to come out to see us. Had our Special K lunch in the car then we were off towards Yellowstone. Drove through Big Sky but didn't go the famous resort. Saw some beautiful scenery on the [View Full Entry]

Day 127 (Tuesday 25/08/09, NJJ) Everyone had to get off the bus at 4.40am in Spokane, the last stop in Washington state, for 30mins. We were unlucky to be stuck in the same seats when we got back on. We both managed to get a little sleep then. We travelled through Idaho but there were no stops in the state. 30 mins stop at St Regis, Montana at 8.30am so we bought some breakfast food but there wasn't a healthy item in the shop! I got back into my reading back to try and distract myself from the discomfort. At 12.40pm [View Full Entry]

Ummm.. Where Now?

Day 126 (Monday 24/08/09, NJJ) Packed everything up. Dropped bags off at lockers in bus station. Got the car back to the rental place bang on 12.15pm, the exact time it had to be back for phew. Lunch at a food court. You had to be there but - whilst Jamie was looking at the menu a guy who was queuing asked him 'are you ready to go?' Jay looking quite shocked said 'Where?', I struggled to contain my laughter as the guy was referring to being served but Jay responded as if he thought he wanted to take him somewhere [View Full Entry]

Day 123 (Friday 21/08/09, NJJ) Slept OK, especially considering the loud trains running all night. The creek next to our camp site was loud but that was just like white noise. As we were close to a waterway I was paranoid as usual about bears. Washed dishes then left camp. Drove from Squamish to Vancouver. Checked into Capilano RV park around 10am for the next three nights. I found out how worried Angela is about John flying out for the wedding and it really unsettled me. We were considering calling off the wedding or at least postponing it until we get [View Full Entry]

A much-needed drink

Day 122 (Thursday 20/08/09, JRJ) Loud trains again throughout the night! Up early, shower and packed up by 9:30. Had breakfast and drove to Ashcroft. Had a wander around a little museum about the gold rush and local history. It was OK. Drove onto Lillooet and stopped for lunch at a pretty picnic area. Drove onto Whistler. Had a walk around the town which was very nice. It's obvious they are preparing for the 2010 Winter Olympics. From there went to a campsite in Squamish for the night. [View Full Entry]
