I liked my little blondie title it made me laugh if no-one else :) this blog entry is about my trip to South Korea from December 29th to Jan 10th when I went to visit my friend who is there teaching english. This was my first venture into Asia. I flew from Edinburgh to Amsterdam, then Ams to Seoul which was 11 hours......boring when you're by yourself!! My friend met me at the airport and I was a mess, tired n jet lagged lol :) we got the bus to his flat in Seongnam, and he went to work while I slept for a while. That night I was sooo tired but I tried to keep awake n shift into korea time! We went out for dinner with some of bens friends who I hung around ... read more
We flew to Riga from Moscow with Air Baltic on the 8th of June, and once again our hostel mucked up our transfer! Couldn't believe our bad luck that it happened twice! Again tiredness made us jump in a taxi and hoped it was a legitimate company! We got to our hostel about half 11 at night and were soooo hungry. We couldn't find a 24 hour supermarket nearby but walked in the pouring rain to good old Mcdonalds :) Riga is a really small city (especially after we had just arrived from Moscow) and it had a completely different feel from Russia. You can still see some communist influences though. The old town has loads of cute narrow side streets and beautiful buildings :) I found Riga a little expensive for a eastern european country! ... read more
Again, I'm writing this blog a few months after I was actually in Moscow :) But I've got some free time so will try and write as much as I remember! We arrived in Moscow about 6am, which was 2am british time and even that 4 hour time difference made me feel soooooo tired and spaced out. We arrived in Domodedovo airport and had arranged for our hostel to pick us up at 8 to give us a chance to get breakfast. We ended up not gettnig breakfast but just hanging around. 8am came, then half 8 and we phoned our hostel to find out there was a mix up and they'd forgotten our transfer! I was so tired and harrassed by all the taxi men wanting up to £60 for a transfer. Me and stu ... read more
Just got back from a 5 day trip from krakow on friday, I've already been so I knew it was going to be amazing and going again just reminded me that it's my favourite city! The weather was absolutly gorgeous all week, even got a bit red in the face! We went out clubbing on monday night, tuesday we went shopping before watching the liverpool-chelsea game in an irish pub. We were having an early night because we were going to auschwitz and the salt mines the next day. I'd already been before so I knew what to expect but it doesn't make a visit to Auschwitz any easier! The others were blown away by the sheer scale, and I don't think they will forget about it in a while. The salt mines were absoultely amazing, ... read more

It's been almost 6 months since I went to Namibia but this crazy year meant I've not written about it untill now. I went through realgap to volunteer at n/a'ankuse wildlife sanctuary which was one of the best experiences of my life. I'd always wanted to go to Africa and to be honest I didn't know much about Namibia itself but it is an amazing country! I met so many amazing people, a few I've managed to meet up with since I've been back which is good :) I got to hug cheetahs, take baboons for a walk, feed lions, take people on safari tours, see an african city (windhoek), eat zebra and so much more....... read more
Me and 5 friends from uni went to Amsterdam on the 17th March - 21st. We stayed in the stayokay hostel in zeeburg, it was a bit out of town but was clean, affordable and the tram stop to dam square was bout 50m away. We spent the week going to the zoo, madam tussauds, red light district, coffeeshops and just generally walking about the city! Amsterdam is so different, everyone is laid back but the bicycles are crazy!!!!! We tried some hash in the coffeeshops (none of us smoke it back home but we had to take in the culture you see ;) The weather was all over the place! we had snow, hailstones (sore!!!) , thunder and lightning, random spells of sunshine and rain!!! ... read more
