Morning all. I'm way behind on the blog front, but I can assure you I have stories galore for the last few weeks. I had christmas in New Zealand, new year in Bangkok, and my birthday in Ko-Samui. I'll be filling in the gaps in a later blog entry, but I thought what i'm upto right now is worth a quick update. ok. I'm pretty weak tierd right now (for reasons that will become clear) so apologies if my english is a bit more off than usual. I've checked myself into a health farm on KO Samui (A southern thai island) for a 10 day detox programme, of which I am currently on day 3. This involves the following (no joke): -No food. -Yoga Everyday -Massage Every Day -Steam room X2 every day -Lymphomatics (Trampoline Jumping) ... read more

Merry xmas everyone. Hope you all had a good day! Due to current world events : 1. The british consulate advising against travel to Indonesia (Bali inc) around the new year, and into January period due to terrorist attack warnings - Announced december 18th. 2. The massive Tsunami which has destroyed much of Thailands (amoungst other places) West coast. 3. Continuing fighting in southern Thailand. I've altered my travel plans somewhat. Instead of going to Bali (Eastern Indonesia) for the next month, I will be travelling directly to Bangkok tomorrow. After 4-7 days in Bangkok I will be heading north to Chang Mai, and then on to Laos, cambodia and Vietnam. In March I will then travel to the Islands in the bay of Thailand, East of the affected areas. This should keep me out ... read more

Evening all, and hope you are well. Its been an eventful couple of weeks, mostly for all the wrong reasons. I’ve been travelling round New Zealand and have a number of scrapes to tell you about. Banks Peninsula My first stop was a small town called Akaroa near Christchurch on a piece of land called the banks peninsula. The peninsula is a big semi circle of mountains with a large sea inlet running up the middle of them. So I get there at about 3pm… go for a quick bike ride up on of the big hills so I can get a good view of the place.. and it starts pissing down. I took shelter under a tin roof at a lookout poiint while a huge storm passed over which involved hail, fork lighting (only about ... read more

Evening all. Firstly, I would like to thank Matt Grest of Veronica Moser technologies© for implementing a new gallery system to deliver pictures of my varying escapades to you lucky people. The new system lives at : www.steveshinn.plus.com The navigation system is pretty obvious, but for PlusNet’s Content and design team heres some detailed instructions… 1.Turn on the computer….2… login into windows 3… oh, how I do make myself laugh. So.. I’ve got to NZ and I’ve been in Christchurch for a week. Due to the realisation that I have become horizontally challenged over the last couple of months due to excess beer consumption, I have decided to do some damn exercise. What else is New Zealand good for but Mountain Biking!! - It’s a myriad of trails, mountains, rivers, lakes, more mountains and forests. I’ve ... read more

Evening All. Got to Cairns at 04:30 in the morning on the 25th. Got picked up by my mums friend, spent a couple of days with his family just getting over the jetlag. Went up to an place called cooktown which is a bit further up the coast from Cairns. Some fantastic deserted beaches up there which are amazingly quiet (as per the pictures). Then on Monday I moved into a hostel on the water front at cairns and have basically been arranging travelling down the East coast, getting pissed with random people and sunbathing. Ive hooked up with two Canadian girls and an english girl, and we are going to travel down the east coast together in a rental car and camp. The route will take in the following areas : Cape Tribulation - Basically ... read more

Just a quick one : Photos are now at www.steveshinn.plus.com/hongkong Hong Kong 2 In the morning I went on a major walk around, and succeeded in my attempt to get away from the more tourist based parts of the city and sample some of the less commercial bits of HK. not much to say other than the buildings are drab and the people poor. I then used the ‘peak tram’ to get to a the top of a peak (surprisingly) which looks over the whole of the city of Hong Hong. On the way up I got chatting to an English brother and Sister who had been away together for five months, but were leaving for home. on the 25th of September. At the top the view was fantastic so we took some photos and ... read more
