The Wedding Helicopter Ride

As promised here are some of the photo's taken by the guys who went by helicopter. Just to set the scene, on Tuesday there were 60 mph winds, on Wednesday it was only 40mph - pah - no problem - hehehe! So here they are.....Mr & Mrs Turner - CONGRATULATIONS! There are more professional photographs but we wanted to get something online quickly. The Cowboys and Cowgirls who work on this ranch were fabulous, they were warm and hospitable and did everything they could to make this a warm and special day....despite the snow and freezing temperatures. The ceremony was administered by a minister from Las Vegas who was flown out especially and he was a hoot. Full of character and funny stories. The Wedding took place in the Diamond Bar in front of a warm fire - it was beautiful and quite homely. Karen was serenaded in by Mike the Cowboy and his geetarrrr and I think that she looked stunning. Frances was extremely cute in her Princess Daisy outfit but refused to keep it on ... read more

Finally the day that Karen and Dave have been planning arrives and there are two significant things that hit us.....firstly Dave has had to call out the doctor as he had a fever - HE IS OK - but obviously with the day ahead he wanted to feel his best. The doctor prescribed some drugs to get him through the day...thankfully they kicked in pretty fast and he was able to enjoy the helipcopter ride. The second thing was the ranched called to say it was SNOWING.....in the flipping desert and that we should bring warm clothes. This was entirely unexpected and we had all packed for the summer ish wedding in the Orchard. Oh well, what can you do but buy jumpers! We're in the middle of a desert....you're thinking hot, humid and dusty......think again! The temperature has dropped, it is very windy and grey looking. Hmmmmm nevermind, we are Brits and these things don't faze us! Dave has also woken up this morning with a cold so he is having a pampered day and plenty of lemsip! Our day begins with a eat all you can buffet in the Luxor - we all did our best to consume $15 worth but I think we may have failed on this occasion. The buffet beat us this time but there are 3 more days......oh yes! We then moved on to Shark Reef at the Mandalay Hotel the only predator based aquarium in North America and I think it has to be one of the best aquariums I've ever been ... read more

Finally after nearly 24 hours we arrived at The Luxor Hotel Las Vegas .....knackered, sweaty and very very pleased. Frances was extremely well behaved apart from the take off from Heathrow in which she screamed the plane down but apart from that she was as good as gold! Certainly too much excitement for her - planes, airports, escalators, wide open spaces to run and the discovery of dairylea dunkers! So we all arrived at Heathrow to find chaos........yep half term has a lot to answer for! Queue after queue meant that we only had time to grab a coffee and toastie before we had to board. The Hen Night - Henry J Beans

The venue of choice for Karens Hen Night was Henry J Beans on the Kings Road in Chelsea. The Hen Night was arrange by Serena and Louise and a fine venue it was too! An excellent mix of people, a nice venue, great music and beefburgers the size of a house. Karen had specifically requested a non tacky night and I think we managed to give her one albeit that she had a wear a pink feather boa and a tiara all night - it could have been sooooo much worse! Serena, Louise and Jo decorated the area with pictures of Karen in various stages of her life. What was nice to see was that many of the "hens" were in the pictures too. Dave had Stag Night last week and by the look/state of him on Sunday evening Id say hed had a great time. To sum it up Nottingham, Hooters....need I say more! I have asked for pictures from the night but so far they are not forthcoming....hmmmm I wonder why! Still I believe a good time was had by all on the night!
