Beautiful weather to go on the road and see the fall foliage. In the afternoon I took Route 2 West till I got on the 'Mohawk Trail'. This is a 38-mile route that runs through territory once covered on foot and horseback by Native Americans. On the road I stopped at 'Wagon Wheel' restaurant for a nice lunch, a 'grilles chicken sandwinch with diet pepsi and a homemade apple pie. I drove to Shelburne Falls, a nice town on the trail. There I walked on the 'Bridge of Flowers' and saw the ' Glacial Potholes'. http://www.shelburnefalls.com/explore/sights-scenes After this I took the way back home and stopped for a last view at 'Turner Falls' It was a nice fall day. ... read more

In the afternoon I went with people from the Meeting group from yesterday to Boston. We went to a food festival at the seaport but it wasn't really interesting so we went further to the center of Boston. We went to Quincy market and then followed the red line from the Freedom trail till we get at the Boston Common where we took the subway to Science Museum. http://www.mos.org/ Freedom Trail is a 4 km long path through downtown Boston that passes 16 of the city's historic landmarks. It starts at the visitor information center in Boston Common. http://www.aviewoncities.com/boston/freedomtrail.htm We watched a documentary from 'Arabia'. I had fun on the musical stairs. When you walk on it the stairs make music so you can make a whole symphony walking up and down the stairs. Cool! After ... read more

Tonight I met new people at a restaurant in Worcester. We meeted at the Smokestack Urban Barbecue It was not easy to follow the conversation all the time and sometime I felt really lost. The people I met were very sympathic. When I came in there was only person and we started talking. After a while others came in and so it started... As apetizer we had 'Fried Pickels'. (cornichons frit - gebakken augurken) I ordered a 'Fried Chicken Steak' (poulet pané frit - gepaneerde kip) with 2 slides of 'Creole Potato Salad' and 'Cumcumber Salad'. I could taste some other slides from my others 'Smashed Potatoes' (purée de pdt - aardappelpuree) and 'BBQ Beans'. Because we had to wait very long for our dinner we recieved an assortment of desserts to share: 'Black Bottom Banana ... read more

After a good night at the Cap Codder, we went to the centre of Provincetown. On the way, we stopped the buy a nice coffee where we met a women from Canada, Québec. She heard we speak french and helped us in the ordering. At 10.00am we embark on the Dolphin to meet the whales. After three quarters we finally see our first whale. And what a vedette, the whale gave us a real show with all her stunts. We went to see an other but it was mostly diving and we could see it when it came up the get some air. After 3hours we went back to the coast. We decided to hit the road and to stop on the way to eat lunch. At Wellfleet we found a nice restaurant named 'Moby Dick's ... read more

Sylvie, an other Ilexer from Switzerland who live in Middleboro, and me decided to go for a trip to Cape Cod. I arrived at Sylvies house on Friday at 12.30 am (00.30) after my work day. Before sleeping we had a little meeting abour our trip. We left on Friday at 10.00 am and first arrived at Sandwich, a very little town. We found a nice tea shop 'The Dunbar' where we stopped to have breakfast. 'The Dunbar' tea shop (Sandwich, MA): http://www.dunbartea.com/index.htm With a well-filled stomach we got on the road again and stopped in Orleans where we found an touristic information centre where we got information about what to see in Cape Cod. I'm already two weeks in Worcester. Time pass by so fast. I moved closer to my work, now I drive only 35 min instead of 55 min. That's a huge difference when you have to drive back home at 11.00 pm. Worcester is a bigger city. I can go to the grocery at the corner of my street 24hours a day 7/7. That's America... It's named after Worcester in England and due to its location is often refferd as the "Heart of the Commonwealth". Now, I'm 64km (40 miles) from Boston, that's about one hour. But I can take the train from Worcester to Boston. When I want to go find a yoga club I was lost and just walked around in Worcester. On my walk thru Worcester I made some pictures. I found nice halloween ... read more

After a relaxing day, my roommates and I went to the Seafoo festival. It's to celebrate the end of the summer and it's also the last day the shops are open till next summer in may. We walked on the seashore from shop to shop. We ate some nice seafood specialties: Fried Calamari, Clam Chowda, Cookie Ice Cream, Cheese Waffle Fries, Fried Ice Cream. I bought candy at the Candy House: gummy lobster, gummy swedish fish ;-) At the end we saw a nice firework on the beach.... read more

Today I had a day off and with Ulrike we went for a little trip to Cape Ann. We arrived to Newburyport, but there was nothing special to see so we drove further to Plum Island. It's a very quiet place with a nice beach. You can rent a house for vacation when you want to have a restfull holiday. There aren't any stores or touristic places. Then we drove to Ipswich, Cranes Beaches, a natural reserve. It's 8$ to enter so we passed our way. After a while we began to be hungry so we find a nice restaurant in Essex and had a really nice lunch. Now we were ready to go to Rockport. This is a nice village at the seashore. It's a more touristic place so we could do some nice touristic ... read more

After a good night's rest I'm ready to begin my second day in the city that never sleeps. First I pass by Starbucks for a coffee and a croissant. It is 9.00 and the streets are full of people who go to work. Today also it is very hot. I walk through the streets to the Hudson River and take the boat to go to Liberty Island. I discover the breathtaking view of Manhattan and its skyscrapers. Miss Liberty is watching us from her 92.9 meters high. Empire State Building welcome me and I discovered a magnificent view of Manhattan. I continue exploring the city with City Sight NY bus until he has time to prepare my bag and make my way to China town where I take the bus to return. I still walk last ... read more
