Saturday I went to Middleboro to pick up two other fellow to go to Plymouth. We went to the annual Thanksgiving parade. This is one of America’s only historically accurate chronological parades, visually bringing to life America’s rich heritage representing each century from the 17th through the 21st. The parade features beautifully decorated floats, nationally recognized Drum and Bugle Corps, re-enactment units from every period of American history and military marching units. Patriotism and hope is revived in the hearts of observant adults and children as the drum and fife, pipe, drum and bugle corps, and military bands play music honoring the courageous defenders of our country: the men and women who serve in the Army, the Navy, the Marines, the Air Force and the Coast Guard. http://usathanksgiving.com/ After this we went to the mall to ... read more

Another day in Boston. This time I walked the Black Heritage Trail. After that I walked along the Charles river to the Prudential center where I did a little tour in the stores before getting my roommate from the airport. The Black Heritage Trail The free black community in Boston was concerned with finding decent housing, establishing independent supportive institutions, educating their children, and ending slavery in the rest of the nation. Between 1800 and 1900, most of the African Americans who lived in Boston lived in the West End, between Pinckney and Cambridge streets, and between Joy and Charles streets, a neighborhood now called the North Slope of Beacon Hill. Many of these homes are now part of the Black Heritage Trail. ... read more

Go Sharks!! Tonight I went to a hockey game in Worcester. Worcester Sharks vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. The Penguins won, but it was a nice game. There was even a fight on the ice. During the breaks we had entertaining: little kids playing hockey, we could win T-shirts and tickets. Afterwards we went for a nice sweet dessert to end the evening. http://www.sharksahl.com/index.asp ... read more

Today I had to bring my roommate to the airport so I took the occasion to stay for the day in Boston. I decided to walk the Freedom trail. It is a 2,5 mile (4km) long path through downtown Boston that passes 16 of the city's historic landmarks. On my way I stopped at Starbucks to drink and eat a special fall snack: Pumpkin Spicy latte and pumpkin bread. At Faneuil Hall I did some shopping and bought myself a nice sweater and Clam Chowder (clam=palourde=soort mossel) Follow me on the red line... ... read more

Wow, times flies by so fast... Today is my 100th day. I took it easy. This morning I surfed on the net and skyped with my parents. In the afternoon I went to Wal Mart to buy curtains the make the appartment cosier. I found nice brown ones (pictures are coming) On my way back I had a beautiful sky over the city. In the evening I made a nice dinner for myself, starting with an apetizer from 'eggs rolls' (rouleaux de printemps/loempia) with nice wine. As entree I had a 'italian sausage, potatoes and mushrooms à la crème'. I completed it with a hazelnut Dunkin Donut coffee and chocolate cake. And to accompany this I watched a nice romantic comedy. ... read more

Salem... the place to be @ halloween. So Ulrike and I went to visit the city of the witches. In the whole city we saw all kind of costumes. It's really a big event! We learned more about the witchcraft in 1692 at the with history museum. http://www.witchhistorymuseum.com/witchhistory.html Story of the Salem Witch Trials of 1692 It was a period of unrest in Salem, Massachusetts at the end of the 17th Century. There were struggles between the two distinct parts of Salem - Salem Village and Salem Town. Many of the farmers resided in Salem Village and were bent on separating from Salem Town. They soon set up their own church where Reverend Samuel Parris presided. It was because of Reverend Parris' daughter and niece that the Salem Witch Trials began. Samuel Parris' daughter, Elizabeth Parris, ... read more

Before to go on the road again we went the Settlers' Green Village to do some more tax free shopping. I was happy to find 2 nice jeans at Gap. Starbucks offered us a nice breakfast with a nice Pumpkin Spice Latte coffee. We started our last trip in the White Mountains on the Kancamagus Highway. The highway follows the Swift River for a couple of miles, we stopped at the Lower Falls, the Rocky Gorge, the Sabbaday Falls. At the end we finally finished our tour where we started, North Woodstock. On the way back we stopped at Waterville Valley, a well-known ski area. And we did one last shopping stop, in New Hampshire it's tax free ;-)... read more

This weekend we decide to see the fall foliage in the White Mountains, New Hampshire. We had to drive for 2h30 to arrive at North Woodstock, the beginning for our trip on the White Mountain trail. When we arrived, we stopped at a nice restaurant for our breakfast/lunch. We ate a nice pancake with sirup and butter. With a good filled stomach we were ready to go on the road. Our first stop was at the 'Flume Gorge' in the Franconian Notch State park. The Flume is a natural gorge extending 800 feet (243,83 m) at the base of Mt Liberty. We took the shuttle bus to the start of the path and rode through a covered bridge. We walked on the gravel path and wooden walkways up into the gorge with the waterfalls and through ... read more
