Caught the bus into Perth with the intention of booking the trip, the one I have chosen is the one for $825 as the cheaper ones are ok but would cost more when you add the food & accommodation. I went to one place and they offered 3 hours free internet if I booked with them, as I have found out you barter with the agents to see what you can get the trip for. The second place I went to offered an $100 discount bringing the price to $725 plus 2 hours free internet. Caught the bus into Perth and had a walk round to get my bearings then went to the backpacker agents to see what trips I could get to do the southwest of Australia, I found a 6 day trip down to Albany via Margaret River then onto Kalgoorie which is an old mining town this is $825 includes all food and accommodation. Caught the 12:15 Qantas flight from Melbourne to Perth where I was met by Ruth and taken to her house. On the way there we passed a suburb called Morley. We then went out at night to Kings Park where you get an overview of Perth.... read more

Caught the 8am Greyhound bus from Sydney to Melbourne another 12 hour bus ride. On arrival at Melbourne I walked down to Urban Central hostel and checked in this being 9pm then went back to the casino area for food and along the river was celebration for the Chinese new year which included food stalls,bands and various market stalls.... read more

Went down to the Qantas office and they advised to change the ticket would be classed as a destention change and date change which would cost $200. They advised check the web and get a flight to Melbourne then it would just be a date change $25 the cost of the flight is aprox $140 but the coach is $60, so am going to book the overnight coach for Friday getting into Melbourne Sat then see if I can fly from Melbourne to Perth on Sat afternoon. Woke up early and went to the Russian embassy and collected the passport and visa then went back to central station and caught another train to North Sydney and found the Mongolian embassy. The staff were locked out and I was told to return in half an hour, I did this and applied for the visa and was told for an extra $35 it would be ready in half an hour i paid this and then collected it later. I then got back to the hostel and checked the flight to Perth and made a note of the flights for Friday and Saturday. I will see if Qantas can change the ticket for me tomorrow.... read more

Checked out of the hostel and caught the bus to the airport checked in and was told the fight had a 30 min delay. Saw the family that had been on out trip so spoke to them then we boarded the plane. Take off was very turbulent but then levelled out arrived in Sydney and caught the train back to the hostel.... read more

Early start again 5am we drove to the sunrise area and watched the sun rise with the rock changing colours, then we had breakfast and then drove to the Ayers Rock climb which was already closed, they only close it if the temperature is over 36C or to windy at 8am the temperature was 42C. We then did a walk around the base of Ayres Rock which was good. One of the guys who was walking with 6 of us had a panic attack so we had to go get help 4 stopped with him and two of us went off to get to our bus, we managed to get to one car park and then got a lift to our bus driver who came and collected him, we then finished the walk.
